dov
Hallo This is my Panzer IV Ausführung H in 1/35 from MiniArt. Actually I wanted to build one Panzer IV with full interior. So, MiniArt was my choice. Here I have to say, after building aircraft for 25 years, the sidestep to vehicles and tanks is somewhat an astonishment. Soon, after building the main types without interior I choose to build them with interior. This new MiniArt kit is to my opinion the most detailed kit I have ever worked on. On aircraft modelling just the new Mini Base is close to this quality. Far behind also WingNut or anything else you know, Hasegawa, Dragon, Tamiya, AMK, also Takom and ReyField. The detail and the size of parts, here my eyes are on the very limit, with glasses and magnifier, even my tweezers are on the limit! Well, so I thought about assembling. Here I choose following idea: Subassemblies in one color only. Parts with different color will be sprayed separately. Masking must be a minimum, due to high degree of detailing, masking is nearly not possible! So I worked down the base plate and the rear bulkhead. I had to write a matrix to get along with this amount of ammunition. All grenades I intend to spray. The gear and engine is now done, and some parts of the rear compartment are left to do tomorrow. The brakes for each side will be next on my agenda. Well, next days I report more. Happy modelling

edjbartos
Good start, this is one that I will be interested in seeing develop, this is definitely one for the future for me... Ed

dov
Hallo Actually engine and all power units are installed. What is missing; Amution and decals for dials and some details. The grenades will be the next huge work to do. Cons from the kit: Carefull working needed to get along with adding side panels after engine installation. Does anybody have an idea for a worn down but effective winter camo, where the yellow standard shows through? Is there the tank overall to be weathered like this? Since I will have the side protection too. Happy modelling
robw_uk
really nice work... I have a soft spot of interior kits, and miniart kits....

I used chipping fluid to get a worn white wash look on a tiger a few year ago. Worked out ok.
dov
Hallo Now a few steps further. The grenades are missing and decals on the dashboard and some other details. The parts fit together quite well, dry fit positive. One thing has a flaw. The ventilators for the cooling unit can not rotate to open the hatch! I asume the ventilators are too high! About 1 or 2 mm. The fitting for the hull, is quite trcky. To take care that the thin material does not end up twisted! The headache I have is spraying exterior. Why? Because of the assembling sequence. I think to spray all over basic yellow, shades too in dark yellow and white weathered untill the final state. In many sequences necessary: After gear and track assembly and full mud guards After the fine etched parts and brackets for the Schürtzen are mounted After Schürzen interior and exterior And the turret without Schürzen And turret with Schürzen Any other ideas? Weathering with hairspray I guess, think about decantation. Would like your ideas! Happy modelling P.S. Nick C your result is great. This fluid I would like to refrain from chipping fluid. Does it work on Gunze Mr. Color C-Colors too?

Hi Mine was over the top of tamiya acyrlics but with the base cost sealed with semi gloss varnish before each chipping later, I.e yellow sealed and camouflage chipped, then sealed, and white applied and chipped.

dov
Hallo Now I went further. Today the brackets for the longitudinal girder are glued. The girder not. All tools around are ready to get sprayed after dry fit each. Some got some etched parts too. The hull by itself was somewhat tricky, because of twisting. I did not get it perfect, but well. Some holes shown in the instruction are easily overseen. In the rear on the right side you have the air filter. This unit together with the brackets and one channel like object is very tight. This object, for what is it? I assume for an antenna, but this is on the very ear left side. The grenades I sprayed each type separately. So, each type with a red ring got a white coat before. After the heads were done, I made the brass shell. Decals on the grenades I omitted. The track chain is from Friul. Already finished. All wheels and sprockets too. The big challenge is spraying. Here I have the question about how to create this overall white lousy looking effect, as on the first photo in this sequence shown? The instruction makes me sometimes weird. Because you need three circles to get all the tools and other parts on one side in position. On the other hand, projection of parts is just automatic and it does not show the part clearly. Mixing up may happen easily. On the other hand you need sometimes 3 or 4 sprues to get the parts for one tiny assembly group. The grouping is perfect for production and creating variants, but the hell for the modeler who wants to build one variant only! Lazy Modeller
Its growing really well... and the interior very convincing! Cheers LM
dov
Hallo This is my first spraying session for the winter exterior camouflage. I used white of course, number 1 (gloss) and 62 (flat). Further on the yellow hull colour and some brown and black. All highly diluted. Far from being finished. So do I think to work on panel lines with some wash, or by brush to point out some areas. Here in this matter I am a greenhorn, since this is my first tank winter camouflage. Spraying aircraft is so different! Happy modelling
dov
Hallo Some steps ahead. The track chain is now corrected on the cog wheel. Not so as on the photo. More soon! Happy modelling
dov
Hallo Now I finished the basic tank, now I will go on with Schürzen & turret. Happy modelling 2
dov
Hallo Some advances. Schürtzen are on. Not perfect. To get the side platforms above the tracks better alligned, much more attention is required. Next time. The Ausführung J is much more complex. The finish spray is not done. Together with the turret next week. Happy modelling
dov
Hallo Now it is finished. The vertical suport colums for the platform of to the turret are to my opinion not good designed. Since the bracket in the upper ring are wierd! Of design and injection mold. Not good at all! I did hardly find the position. Dry fitt is impossible. Now it looks, as if the distance is too long and the platform sits on the lower part of the interior of the hull. Abou 0,5 mm. Well, further pictures in RFI.
