Dave_R
Hi All, There's not much time left in this GB, but I think I can get this one done. I going with the 892 Sqn. decals which will go nicely with the Airfix Buccaneer I'm planning on building next year. Dave.

Dave_R
Hi All, The cockpit ready to be installed. ...and installed I've filled in the trenches in the air intake ramps as that's not a very realistic way of depicting the tiny holes, for me a smooth finish is closer to the real thing. Alan P
Great start! Not sure about how much time you need vs the GB deadline, but at this rate it'll be done by the weekend 😂
Thom216
I'm a late starter on this also, but still a month to go! Yours is looking good from here!
Dave_R
Hi All, Ready for a bit of paint. The fit was very good - except for the inevitable problems with the air intakes. Dave.

Tony G
Just before you paint there are no antenas on the sides of the tail fin on 892 cabs

I think I was so used to seeing RAF Phantoms back in the 70's and 80's that I didn't give it a second thought. I've got most of the painting done. I've made another schoolboy error. I put the inner wing pylons on before the underwing serial numbers and I can't remove them without damage, now I'll have to cut-up the decals and try and fit them around the pylons. Shame about the serial number, depending on the serial number there is often a small portion on the main undercarrage door as well

Thom216
Looks like a real nice and smooth paint job! Planning on doing one of these to at some point, only with the Colonial Navy treatment.

Measure the width of the pylon and use a straightedge ruler and sharp blade to remove the portion that should be under the pylon. Once its placed on the wing you can use the sharp blade to cut the bit thats hanging in the wheel well and place it on the door since your gear is already mounted. My apologies if you already figured all of this out ? Edited November 1, 2021 by Corsairfoxfouruncle
Dave_R
Hi All, I've put most of the decals on, although there's still plenty of stencils to go on. There's a bit more work to do, but I should get it finished in time. Dave.

Dave_R
Hi All, Nearly done now. I'll put in as many finishing touches as time allows, but I've an F-8 to finish by Sunday as well - so it's probably done. Dave.

arfa1983
Very tidy. I love that scheme. So many nice phantom schemes and so little time. I remember on another hobby website there was a guy who almost exclusively built phantoms. I can sympathize!
