Eduard 1/48 Spitfire Mk.IX RAAF 453 Squadron

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am only new here. This is the first model I have ever built in 30 years. I had made a few mistakes (really struggled with the top engine cowling) that I was not happy with, but decided to press on and complete the build. I plan to build another Spitfire in RAAF markings with all the lessons learnt in the future. The second last image is preparing for transportation, using my vertigo aircraft gig (which I thought was a good idea) to my local hobby store, with the last image of the Eduard Spitfire on display in the local hobby store where it will remain.

Also first time ever that I have attempted a diorama base.

Aftermarket:

-Eduard Look IP

-Brassin Spitfire Mk.IX Drop Tank

-Red Roo Decals

-Quickboost Cockpit Door

-Extra lead wire and goodies added to cockpit

Hope you like it.

Pete.

Hi Pete,

it’s amazing, very subtle weathering and a perfect cockpit. My efforts after a so long time of absence wasn’t not that good .

the little table top looks nice too!

Cheers

Well it looks pretty darn good from here Pete - a great effort for someone who hasn't built for a long time.

+1. That's excellent work!

Looks great to me, cannot see any wrong with the engine cowling, but having built one, I probably know what you mean.. ;)

Very nice work and nice of you to display it at the locla hobby shop! Hope you have fun with the next one!

That's a striking Spitfire, excellent work! What paints did you use?

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for that. Just basically Tamiya acrylics (XF RAF Range), just for the simple fact you do not have to lay down a primer. protected by Mr Colour UV cut clear.

30 years out of the hobby and you build like this? We'd better watch out😀 Well done! And welcome back.
