Finally after 3 months I'm ready for action

So in the middle of July I decided to down tools and build myself a new modelling room. This turned out to be a good idea i think as my old space had become simply too small and cramped for me to build effectively. With only one existing wall I set about the task of creating the new room and I have to say I've enjoyed every minute of the project although not building any kits for 3 months has been torture. Currently the room lacks character but that will change I'm sure over time and although I'm now in a position to build again i still have more organising and fettling to do in the future. The only negative event during the build was that the new spray booth i ordered from Benchvent arrived damaged and had to be returned so for the time being I'll have to use the old Sparmax booth until the replacement arrives. Here's a few pic's of the new room as of today but I'm still awaiting delivery of some paint racks and various pieces of wall art to hopefully bring it all together.

So there we go hopefully I can start a wip on here sometime next week and actually use this room for what it was designed for. Thanks for looking back soon 🙂👍

Enjoy your new modelling room.

Can't await your next WIP

Thanks Marco I have to admit I'm quite excited to start building again and the bonus now is i can work through the winter in comfort. All I have to do is flick the heater on and the room will soon be toasty 😉👍

That looks fantastic Andy. Clean, tidy and I would especially love a floor like that. And a chair on wheels. And plug sockets in a sensible place.😀👍

Thanks Stef compared to my old work space I have to admit this is a vast improvement. The main problem i had before was warmth and space both of which I should have in abundance from now on 🙂👍

That is a superb looking cave Andy - I can see a new career for you in home improvements....!!

Don't forget some cutting mats to protect those lovely worktops! Can't wait to see the first build emerging from your new space!

Oh wouldn't that be nice - I've got one single socket about 3 inches off the floor and the other end of the room from my workbench...!! :(

Great job Andy!

Thanks Darryl I appreciate your comment mate 👍. The Mustang was built many moons ago but although it's a little worn out and dusty it remains one of my favourite builds 🙂👍

Not. Jealous. At. All...😋

Really nice room Andy. Lovely setup. Plenty of room for expansion too. That empty wall is crying out for a display cabinet. Just a small one mind you. Enough space for a 100 models or so should do nicely! 🤣🤣🤣

Looks a very nice modelling cave, a good project to have completed and looks as though you have all you need.

But.....

I don't believe it's yours, it's obviously just some pictures taken from a magazine or something. How can I be sure? Well, there's only 3 models in there ;)

😂😂👍,there's a load more finished models in there inside the cupboards for now however over the next few weeks they will appear in there final positions i just haven't got round to it yet. Now I need to find another magazine which shows more than 3 models 🤔 😉👍

Have you decided which will be the first kit to Christen your room?

That's a great question Stef and originally I had my mind set on a Lancia Delta. However since then I've considered all sorts of cars including a Lamborghini Aventador, a Countach,Rothmans Ford Escort, a load of different Ferraris another Lancia 037,Lancia Stratos etc etc. So the short answer is.....well....I don't have a clue atm mate...but I plan to start a wip on Thursday so I guess I need to get my finger out 🙂👍

Yes indeed I can thanks to careful forward planning 😉. The room is 3M x 3M and super insulated with underfloor heating. The heater is suitable for rooms up to 9Mx9M so if my calculations are correct I will only need the heater on for a couple of minutes per session . Gets rather chilly around here in the winter so better to be safe than an ice cube 🙂👍

Underfloor heating, that's luxury! As they used to say in Monty Python.........Chris.

So Chris are you suggesting I name the new cave "Fawlty Tower's" 🤔
