Grey and dirty Kinetic 1/48 F-104S Starfighter

Recommended Posts

Great Spillone!

I still remember them operating out of Grosseto airbase when on holiday in Tuskany!

Bad decals from Kinetic is a very rare thing lately! :(

they are mostly designed by well known aftermarket companies and printed in top quality...

The quality is excellent but the research is not unfortunately.

hmmm

I actually do not have the kit yet (a bit difficult to get Kinetic kits in Europe at decent prices currently.... :( )

from the review here:

https://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/kin/kit_kin_48093.shtml

printed by Cartograf, quality is assured!

I have never heared of 104Graphs before....

they look good actually,... but as you say, hardly any stencils... I kind of like the idea about the nose cone anti glare panel and stencils...

of course I cannot say annything about the size of the markings!

Skydecals had an opposite problem in their markings alegedly being way too big.... I have those somewhere of course :wall:

Excellent!

Perfect done.

Weathering is absolut perfect!

How did you achieve this result?

Happy modelling

Thank you. I started with a black primer and the used multiple very diluted paint coats in slightly different shades of grey. This gives the variety in colours. I made a wash of oilpaint mixed with white spirit and brushed it all over the model, not only the panel lines. Then I wiped the excess wash off and presto, a dirty plane.
