Dermo245
Hello all, Bit of a late entry but hoping I can get this done in time. Was inspired by @Bertie Psmith 1/35 build that he started.. Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (1) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr I haven't built 1/72 armour in a long time so this will be interesting! Kit was a recent purchase from fellow modeller Glen Phelan. Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (2) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Four sprues, tracks, decals.. Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (3) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr And what's this lurking in the corner of the box? Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (4) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Why it's a tiny S-tank! 🥰 Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (5) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Build will be OOB and I'm really drawn to this scheme... Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (6) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Thanks for looking and good luck with your builds. trickyrich
welcome along Dermot, with a different type of build for you, a wee panzer...... a very wee one! The 1/35th scale one is small but beside that paint jar, she looks tiny. Hopefully you don't have the fit issues that seem to plague the larger model. That camo scheme will be a little challenging in 1/72nd, but it is an awesome scheme. Good luck with this build, will be interesting to see what you do with her.
Dermo245
Thanks all. Opened this up at the weekend while watching the Duxford Show on Planes TV Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (6) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr As a non-armour builder, I'd forgotten how many wheels there are in a build! Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (7) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Fit was really nice and such a change not having to worry about fuselage seam lines. The dozer blade was a little bit warped so clamped that while gluing. Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (8) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr And an hour or so later, it was starting to look like a tank! Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (9) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr And then hit with Matt Black as a primer. Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (10) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr More soon, thanks for looking! Marlin
WOW, I've must have missed this thread. Your S-tank look just lovely in this miniature scale. Must get me one of my own. I ferried quite a few of them when I did my National Service in the Royal Engineers building ribbon bridges way up in the Arctic region of Sweden. One of them actually manage to punch a hole in one pontoon with the canon, when the tank commander wouldn't go in revers up on the pontoon. 🤣 I think he at least got his weekend pass revoked for that weekend. /Bosse

trickyrich
she's looking great Dermot, I keep forgetting how small she actually is in that scale. Plus you're doing the splinter scheme as well, she's going to look great, keep up the great work!
Dermo245
Thanks Rich and everyone who's commented/liked. Masked up the Light Green so I could spray the Dark Green... Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (13) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr The Dark Green is 90% I J N Green with 10% yellow Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (14) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Then masked again for the last colour which is NATO Black Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (15) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (16) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Waited an hour and then remove all the masking tape bits - quite happy how that turned out! Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (17) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Wheels and tracks next, then onto a gloss coat. Cheers, Dermot
CliffB
Nice work with the camo Dermot, especially considering how 3D the surface is Cheers
Dermo245
Thanks everyone. Wheels all added but the plastic vinyl tracks wouldn't take to any glue I had here.. Out with the trusty Mk1 Scale Track Adhesive Precision Link Emergency Replacement or S-T-A-P-L-E-R as it's also known. Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (18) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr And then hidden with the side fuel cans! 👍 Trumpeter_ Strv_103C_ (19) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Wash and weathering next. trickyrich
I'd be really happy with that paint job as well, not easy to do in such a small scale, well done!
Dermo245
Sorry for not posting in a while - forgot to take pictures! Decals added, then a gloss coat followed by a wash and weathering with pastels. Then a spray of Matt varnish and she's done!
