I can highly recommend the Vallejo metallic acrylics. I do only use acrylics so they fit really well for me. Hope you get that fury back up and running. πŸ˜€

They are the only ones I use really. β€œAcrylic metal colour”

Acrylicos Vallejo 32 ml"Dull Aluminium" Metal Color https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B012A940OK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_QKTHY6VQDTNH0J45S0K9

Β

it’s called dull, aluminum but if you spray it wet it comes up really shiny. Lovely stuff. You can top coat the their metallic varnish too. πŸ˜€

Thank you Johnny!Β

Thanks John :thumbsup:Β That's the effect I was after when using Vallejo Chrome, but it didn't quite work that way....

It’s really strange but I get a more shiny effect with dull Aluminium than I do with the chrome. 🀷

First post of the new year. Still no RFIs in the bag. 😬 lots of hurdles over Christmas. Covid stopped Christmas dinner with the family literally an hour before we were about to receive everyone. My folks are getting rather frail so I’ve been running around a lot looking after them leaving precious little time for other things. It’s nothing too bad simply life throwing what it has in store in my general direction. I did manage to bag a PS5 from the wife so I did spend a some rest time playing video games. Β Resident evil Village is wonderful. πŸ˜πŸ–€

With life slowly getting back on its feet, I wondered into BritModeller to remind me of why I love modelling. Lots of lovely work been going on but I think it was reading Bill’s @perdu’s Helicopter thread that got my juices flowing again. So today after fixing some curtains at my parents turned into a bench day. 🀩

The Demon has had its post shade.

Tough to see in that shot but you can just see where I sprayed the smoke.

51825383460_16d7d5a4b6_b.jpg 51824773058_7b1fc5d441_b.jpg

Really picked out the panels and lines.Β

The wings I’m happy with too.

51824664081_9c90cf223f_b.jpg

A top coat added and we’re ready for decals.

51825383500_6b7b535d3c_b.jpg

I forgot how therapeutic these can be. πŸ˜‡

51824663911_d670eb08b7_b.jpg

There aren’t that many decals so in no time.Β

51823720907_262a617bcd_b.jpg

Even the wheel ones got used.

51823720642_84928ca6cf_b.jpg

Pipes got a blast of primer!Β

51824773083_12181e6bc1_b.jpg

Another top coat on the main parts and we’re in the Flory Zone.

51823720687_432449a212_b.jpg

That’ll need to dry.

Sorry for the snails pace but owt is better than nowt.

All comments welcome.

Happy modelling chums.

Johnny.

Looks great! Though I'm curious as to why you Flory parts individually (recalling your past builds here) as surely that means none gets around the joins of parts (where pipes are attached to the fuselage for example) or do you spread the grime from the part?

Thanks. I flory individual parts usually when it’s tough to get to said parts after gluing in place. Bi planes for instance are tricky buggers to get in all the nooks and crannies so a before flory is my preferred path. Also the struts are so small and delicate. Β Hope that helps. 😍

Hey guys.

Thanks for all the lovely feedback. It’s so nice to be here again. I really need to manage my time better so I get more solid bench hours in. πŸ˜€

Luckily more has been done on the mini Demon.Β
The nose gun / stick has been scratched and a little sight popped on. Should look ok painted and in place.

51830899821_d4de2526ca_b.jpg

The Flory got knocked right back leaving just the amount I wanted. The painted areas got a light Mat coat.

Under.

51831244484_365d2afc14_b.jpg

And over.

51831624270_f324d746f6_b.jpg

Similar case with the main airframe. I had glossed to seal the flory then masked the nose to keep the treatments separate.

51831624280_ebb929ae35_b.jpg

I’m happy with that.

51831244444_3b2a8dc89b_b.jpg

The struts started going on.

Tail first.

51831244429_c6717e939d_b.jpg

Then the UC frame. One part at a time.

51831244134_719f5cd52e_b.jpg

The detail on the wheels popped out and is looking pretty good.Β

51829948357_9149d5b667_b.jpg

The rest of the UC got glued and jiggled into place.

51829948372_1dca652c7b_b.jpg

I don’t believe the kit comes with clear parts so I made a little screen using thin plasticard cut to shape.

51831244179_008067e3d5_b.jpg

Also added the belts from all that time ago.

51830899566_71f499931a_b.jpg

Construction is coming together now. A few bits still yet to have started but if I can get the main bulk to sit pretty I’m 80% of the way there.

slightly unorthodox method for fitting the top wing but I’m sure it’ll be fine.

51829948392_1de6b268cc_b.jpg

We shall see. 🀞🀞🀞

Thanks for popping in.Β
Take care and as always. Happy modelling.

The wing struts slope outwards as they go up. Looks like you might have to do some re-jigging. On my Airfix one, the tops of the struts are 103mm apart at the top and 85mm apart at the bottom.

Β

Sorry to bear bad tidings. I’m just the messenger…

Not to worry. You can’t see it really on the pic but the pegs are holding the struts in the sloped position. I have roughly glued them holding the airframe above so only a few mm wiggle to be done. πŸ˜‡ I remember when you built yours. Β

Thanks. Flory is a bit fickle. Some of my pots have gone a little β€œbitty” I think it’s due to contamination from brushes. I decant now before use. πŸ˜‡
