Lord Riot
I used EZ Line for the cable on the oleo. It’s not 100% accurate but looks close enough. Undercarriage fitted. And the ejection seat. Cockpit area is painted the same ‘coal black’ I use for tyres. The intake lip is a darker grey, I’d never noticed that before. Shame I had to brush paint it!
Lord Riot
Looking a bit more like an F-16 now. The radome left a bit of a gap so I needed to fill the join and respray that area. Main airframe now complete, I’m going to see how good I can get the dummy Sidewinders next. Then there’s the jetpipe area to do and a few little details such as lamps, aerials and those tiny static vents on the trailing edges. I’ll use little bits of thin wire for those, if I can get them to stay on! This kit didn’t need any nose weight. If anyone has any correction ideas or feedback please shout out! From the photos I’ve seen these aggressors were kept pretty clean, so I’m going to keep weathering to a minimum on this build.
bar side
Don’t think they lasted long enough to get dirty! Might have been more of a nose weight issue with a resin exhaust but I haven’t had one tail sit yet. Normally ok with an F-16 or an F-4
Lord Riot
Wingtip stores painted and fitted. I decided to go with one inert AIM-9 and one that I assume is an acquisition round. I just copied from photos, not seen one with rear fins but no forward ones before.
Lord Riot
I watered down some green paint for the HUD. Most of the stencils done now. The Afterburner decals are excellent, really thin and no slivering.
Lord Riot
The kit doesn’t include the little tubes on the trailing edges, so I’m making them out of thin wire, glued on with CA glue. Still got the tailplanes and fin ones to do yet.
Lord Riot
Cockpit and canopy done, and the unit markings and tail codes added. Just waiting for the rear exhaust ‘doughnut’ now then it’ll be done. I’m not sure if the longer tube is needed or not, anyone know how far back the fan blades are set inside the jetpipe? That tube looks too long!
