Hansa-Brandenburg D.I (TOKO 1:72)

Recommended Posts

Greetings, comrades!
Trying to embrace the immensity, and building models of different times and directions, I could not avoid the theme of World War I. In the closet was only this set, though the car without a lot of swings, but quite interesting.  I mixed a few cans of wooden paint and a couple of canvas paints (two of which were already done). I assembled some material and literature, had some practice and experimented, built the model rather well and without too much effort.  Had to putty of course, and work up, how-ever without it ...) The plane belonged to (Flik 41J, pilot Frank Linke-Crawford, Sežana, autumn, 1917).

Painting and varnish: GSI Mr.Color urethane acrylic, Tamiya varnishes, + pencils.
Enjoy watching!

Beautiful job on a fairly ugly aircraft, you've worked some magic to make it a swan. :)

What a unique aircraft and very well build too! Looks like a flying crate.

I also like the upside-down photo's, its just like he is in the air!

Beautifully done!  I remember the star strut assembly as being persnickety...

It is worth noting that Frank Linke-Crawford (born in Krakow to a Polish father and an English mother) was a leading Polish ace of World War I - flying these clumsy Austrian fighter plane  imitations he shot down 27 Allied machines on the Italian front, including 5 RFC Sopwith Camels.

Marvellous build !

Cheers

Excellent, particularly the wood and fabric effect! Absolutely superior detail for this small scale.

Looking very fine!

Hans

wood and fabric effects are first class. Having scratch built an H-B CC flying boat I know how tricky the star strut arrangement can be to get right - you have got it just right.
