Civilian Vehicles and trucks are despite their lower profile are widely modelled and this new book from renowned modeller George Dent looks at building, detailing, and modifying model trucks. As well as 1;24 which is the dominant scale in model trucks, models in 1:72, 1:48, 1:32, and 1:35 are looked at in the book. After cutting his teeth on Airfix & Matchbox models like many of us did George Dent is now editor and the inhouse modeller for Model Rail magazine; he does though have a long standing passion for model vehicles.

The book is 160 pages long and available in softback or E Book format. It is lavishly illustrated throughout with over 680 photographs. It covers building the kits, painting them, modifying them; and detailing them. The author uses a wide range of kits and materials readily available to achieve his results. Each individual project is clearly explained to the modeller with a step by step guide. Core building techniques are explained as well as more advanced techniques for detailing, and modifying of existing components. Painting and finishing also feature; from getting a show room finish, all the way though to weathering techniques.

Conclusion

This book will give the reader a good understanding of how to build model trucks. It is clearly written by a modeller for other modelers, with clear and concise steps to follow in order to achieve the desired results.  Even though this is essentially a "truck" book the tips and techniques on show will transform to all other types of modelling. As its not a sponsored book the author uses which ever products he thinks will give the best results. Highly recommended.

That looks good and not a bad price either.  That section on demobbed vehicles to civilian life, the Opel Blitz, is interesting.

Thanks for the review Julien.
