MickE
Hi all Does anyone have a recommendation for a good match for Deep Saxe Blue Paint ie manufacturer and paint number? Ideally Vallejo, Tamiya or Mr Hobby but Revell or Humbrol are also welcomed.
Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies
Strange colour. The CIELAB data makes it actually more green than blue.
treker_ed
BS681C:113 Deep Saxe Blue. Never heard of it had to look it up! Sort of a deep turquoise colour. What about Vallejo 70.966 matt turquoise. Not quite as dark maybe but according to Hobby Colour Converter it's about 97%match

PhantomBigStu
An odd colour, official colour patches look nothing like pictures of the real paint on the bombs….
Giorgio N
Comparing my bottle of Vallejo 70.840 Light Turquoise, the colours are pretty similar, with the Vallejo paint a bit darker
MickE
Thanks all. This is what I am trying to match. It's an AIM-9l Sidewinder Acquisition round.

American missles aren’t deep saxe blue, but a FS shade, Vallejo 962 is the shade though 963 is also close which I’ve used on this f5 Edited October 1, 2021 by PhantomBigStu

scotthldr
Official colour on US practice ordnance is FS35109, although it’s probably one of the worst colours out there that is represented accurately by the various paint manufacturers. I would personally go with what your own eyes tell you.

Also humbrol 25 isn’t a bad shout, the latest acrylic dropper version isn’t as strongly blue as the previous iterations Edited October 2, 2021 by PhantomBigStu
MickE
Thanks all. I bought some Vallejo 962 in the end, which looks about right.

Mick To be honest that colour is more akin to Oxford Blue BS381C 105, than Deep Saxe Blue! Selwyn
MickE
Yes I was originally led to believe that the acquisition rounds were in deep sale blue, hence the post title, but was later informed that they were painted in an FS colour and this colour was the close match.
