Hi,
I'll continue the work on my two Israeli Netz's from the F-16 STGB 2 here.

You'll find the start of the build in the WIP from the STGB here.

Not very much have been done since the last update.
I've received some Master pitot tube, and a refil of Tamiya maskingtape.
I didn't know that Tamiya also makes 1mm and 3mm. :D

I glued some bit to the nose section done on Netz II
51527420995_1ba104c40e_k.jpg159 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
The gaps I got I think relate to that Kinetic has retooled the lower fuselage section to get rid of the initial terrible nose droop.
But they didn't correct the nose panel sections.
So I only glued them to the upper section and let them set.
Then I filled the gaps with some small strips of plasticard.

And because of the newer lower fuselage I've also has had to fill the upper and lower fuselage joint several times with liquid sprue.

And I've also done some work on the exhaust section on Netz II.
Painted white on the inside and then dry brushed with soot.

The ACMI pod on the Netz Agressor have also been worked on.
I reshaped the nose section on it so it looks more like picture found online of the real one.

Hi. :D

I've done some more work on my Netz II
The exhaust is in place.

Kinetic's kit isn't an early model A, but an updated model AM.
So some back dating are in order, like these two flare buckets that's not present on an early A.

I glued the blanking plates in the buckets, put some CA glue to it, and then sanded it flush.
51532119503_c98b1d4ab9_k.jpg166 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
I don't think they'll show once the aircraft is painted.

You get the same problem with the nose cone as with the fuselage halves.
They don't match.

I'll build up the nose panel with some putty and sand it into shape.

And I've also glued the air intake in place.

I've got some small gaps to fix where the intake meets the fuselage, but when that's done it's time for primer.

Hi, :D

This weekend I've concentrated on getting the Netz finished and off the worktable.
So Saturday I sat down with the intention of getting it done before Sunday evening.

First I glued the landing gears in place.

Then some IDF/AF specific small parts.

And a brass pitot tube from Masters in the nose, an ACMI pod on the starboard wing, and a training Sidewinder on the port wing.
51546116578_f0900da644_o.jpg184 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

But I ran out of time, so I didn't finish it this weekend.
I still have some small bits to paint, and I've to glue the HUD and the canopy in place.
But on the whole she's almost ready to fly of from the worktable and land in the display cabinet.

Hi, :D

An eagle-eyed mate on my favourite Swedish forum spotted an error on my Netz.

I'd placed one of the air intake antennas the wrong way.

51552383831_5dc06b0232_o.jpg185 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

I cut it loose again and turned it 90 degrees so now it's facng the right way.

Hi. :D

I've done some more work on my Netz II yesterday.
And I found a new issue with the Kinetic F-16.
The hydraulic arms that connects with the landing gear are supposed to have an eye in one end that goes over a peg on the landing gear. But for some reason Kinetic has moulded the part with a peg instead of an eye.
51554675588_021d435744_o.jpg186 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
So I cut the peg from the arm an drilled a hole for the eye.
Nothing that was hard to do, but seriously annoying.  :headbang:

I had of course missed to prime and paint these parts prior to gluing them in place.
51554441376_07740eba90_o.jpg187 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

Another issue is the mounting block for the second pair of hydraulics arms is that the arms has pegs that go into.
Kinetic has done one hole on one side, but the other side is blank.
So out with the drillbit again.
51553649112_61455cb370_o.jpg188 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

I primed all unprimed parts yesterday, so I guess I'll put some white paint on the whole undercarriage this evening.

Having done a 1/72 Hasegawa kit for the GB & had little problem with it, I'm wondering if my Kinetic F-16 has the same issues it's big brother has? You're doing a good job of sorting them though. 👍

Steve.

Thanks Steve. :D

I'll continue listing the findings I'll see on the Kinetic 1/48 F-16.

I'm also building a Norwegian F-16A in the Nordic 2 GB using another issue of Kinetics kit.

Will be interesting to see if that kit has the same issues.

Hi. :D

Just a very small update.

I've finally received some resin candy from Israel.
My Netz II will have a short ALQ-119 ECM pod under the belly.

I've already primed it and will paint it during the weekend.

Hi. :D

Just a small update.
I've now come to the painting stage of my Netz II.
I got the primer on Friday evening.
51570022268_7eb7fd2cd9_k.jpg207 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

And during Saturday and Sunday I got two coats of paint on it, it will get at least one more.
51572483298_d732922aad_k.jpg208 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

And I've sprayed some Tamiya Pure White on the ECM pod.
51573171010_00e2f4b158_k.jpg209 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
I dont think that two coats of paint will do, so I guess I'll have one more session with the spray can.
I absolutely detest painting white.
I'm a brush painter, but when it comes to white I try and use a Tamiya spray can when I can.

Hi. :D

Another small update.

I've flipped the Netz II and started to paint the top colours.

51583212911_45444ee1fe_k.jpg210 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

I actually think this is the first time ever I've painted an F-16 in the original grey camouflage.  :D

Hi. :D
Slowly but surely I'm continuing on my builds.
Since I'm working on multiple kits at the same time, I don't have so much to show on each build.
But now I've built up my Netz II so far that it's time to gloss coat it.
51607699503_7d4c512a4a_k.jpg211 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
And I think there is a possibility that there will be some decaling done on this one over the weekend.

Hi. :D

I've now got the decals in place on my Netz II.
Topside.

Numbered.
51627208043_d76b2784d9_k.jpg213 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
This example didn't have any painted walk lines, which cut the time doing the decals down a bit.

The underside doesn't have that many stencils either.

And when you've done decal for a couple of hours you get both thirsty and hungry.
I found a local October beer from Waxholms Brewery, which was very tasty. :tasty:
51626158327_33501b07b0_k.jpg215 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

And it went very good with Spagetti Bolognese. :eat:

Looks good with Israeli decals!

Color would be wrong, no? :D

I am always expecting camoed F-16s and F-4s... but of course there are always the ex USAF ones more or less hastily integrated !!

Thanks Werner. :D

Wrong colours on an IDF/AF machine looks a bit weird.

I've got a Karpada F-4  planned for some time in the future.

Magen Davids against SEA camo will have a different look to it.

Hi Bosse, I must confess that I too was puzzled by the standard F-16 colours on this machine, but a rereading of your GB thread put me right. It also reminded me how much I fancy spending a summer in Sweden . ;) :D

Thanks Steve. :D

Netz II's are a bit odd with the original colours retained.

But it'll make a pleasant contrast to the rest of my collection.

Summer in Sweden are nice if the weather is.

If not if can be quite cold.

I remember s Midsummers Eve some years back when we only had +9C :cold:

It was actually colder than the preceding Christmas Eve when it was +12C.

But then again we can have temperatures of high +30'sC as well in the summer.

Hi. :D

Yesterday my old companion a 2003 Toyota Avensis Verso that I've had for almost 18 years and driven almost 350.000km died on me.

51633065716_f2d15ec05c_k.jpg217 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

The clutch gave up on me for the third time in it's life.

I was 400 meters from home, so it's time for a new ride I won't be spending any more money on this car.
As soon as my loan application at the bank are fully processed I'll be out hunting for a 2017-19 Toyota RAV4.

When the tow truck had driven me and my dead car home I sat down at the bench trying to forget that I don't have a car longer and finished my Netz.

Then 5 Mirage III's, of which 4 is recon versions, and a Kfir C2.
