Those shots are amazing, so totally in-focus and yet prop blur etc. Superb skill (and probably a bit of good kit as well).

Possibly any shots of the helis in the air? Despite being a BoB air show, those three Westlands would have been my favourite part of the show.

If you click on the pics and view on flickr you can see the equipment listed - I note the use of the Canon100-400 Mk II - clearly a step up from my Mk I

 

Favourite shot is the Spit with the formation in the background - these days its not so hard to get technically good pics - for me it's interesting compositions that impress.

Great photos Shaun!

 

I was at the show on Sunday. I took our 8 year old son so didn’t get to see as much of the flying as I would have liked but particular favourites were the Spitfire Vc solo display, the helicopters and of course the Bearcat and Corsair.

Lovely crisp clear shots Shaun. I do like the Westland helis!  I reckon the east end of the airfield was the place to be.

I may add one or two shots of them airborne to my Flickr, but there wasn't much light during their display, and I was concentrating on getting the images of them coming and going from their parking spots. I much prefer my helicopter images to have a backdrop to them wherever possible, makes for a far better image

The Mk II is a stunning lens, pin sharp right through the focal range. I've had mine 5 years now and it's still as sharp as the day I bought it. Best investment I ever made!

I think so, certainly for the topsides, plays better to the light. The fact the helos were parked up that end was a bonus, meant I didn't have to leg it for their start up! I'd have liked some of the take off images from the tank bank now it's seemingly back to its old self, but can't be in two places at once!
