I don't know how it came about but I visited no less than 3 car museums. In France, I went to the National Automobile Museum in Mulhouse which holds the Schlumpf private collection of about 500 cars. It was awesome, and highly recommended when you're in the neighbourhood 🙂 Link to their website here. Then, in Germany, because @desert falcon recommended it to me, I went to the Porsche museum in Stuttgart. While I was there, I went to the Mercedes-Benz museum as well because it's just a couple of km's from there! I must say, I liked the Porsche museum, but I liked the Mercedes museum even more because of the variety of cars (and trucks, yay!) they have there. I went to Stuttgart with my family last week on the hottest day which was best spent indoors anyway, so what better place to be 😎 Here are some pics I shot, they're just snaps on my phone so not very well taken. From Mulhouse: They have a lot of Bugatti's there! The brand originates from the region. These 2 are amazing... Those wheels are 91 centimeter in diameter. Some other brands as well... This is an Aston Martin, apparently the most expensive car in the world back then ('80's), because of the technology used. Then, after we moved our base to Germany, the Porsches. Johnny has shown a lot of them already here, these are some of my favourites. A drive through Stuttgart later, and there's the Mercedes museum, which is rather nice as a building as well. There are loads of historic cars. This one has been built beautifully a couple of times on this site. Some absolute classics, also well represented on this site. Just as nice as @CrazyCrank's recent rendition 🙂 And this one, which is my favourite SL. Afterwards, it appeared to me that we'd been looking at a 143 mln dollar car... A friend of mine sent me the article. https://www.motor1.com/news/586960/mercedes-benz-300-slr-uhlenhaut-coupe-143-million/ There are loads more beautiful cars. A staff member just finished a quick polish before I took the picture. And trucks as well! This one, I was especially interested in because I'll be building a SWB 1628s tanker for Revell GB. Also, buses, specialist vehicles, too much to show here. Highly recommended, definitely worth a trip. I took 100's of pictures. If you would like to see more, just PM me and I'll send you a link to the files. Thanks a lot, Jeroens, for this virtual tour. And if look carefully to the rear of Mercedes 300 SLR n° 722, you could see the major mistake I did with my scale rendition , which I noticed too later to fix it 🤫 (Sorry guys, I'm a poor lonesome amateur ) CC

desert falcon
Lovely photos @JeroenS, thanks for sharing and I’m happy you liked both of the “Stuttgarter” museums. The Schlumpf Collection is definitely on my list of coming museums to visit !! The story behind the collection with the Schlumpf brothers is a bit crazy too
rob Lyttle
I parked next to one of my all-time favourite types today. Gorgeous little item.... Afraid the photo conditions are less than favourable with the car a dark green, dappled sun and overhead trees reflected. Its possible that the TR2 tops this one in my list of all time favourites, with the little racy intake on the front rather than the TR3's big wide grin, but it's a close call between them. 😎
paul-muc
@JeroenS Are there some more pictures of that gorgeous Mercedes 540 K? There is a Heller kit of this car and a bit complicated in the Heller style. Some pics could be a stimulation to take the kit out of the stash after years of neglect. And that white SSK(L) in the background. Until now we have only the Matchbox kit in 1/32. But even in this small size it is a fascinating car. desert falcon
Just a few spotted on my daily walk today. With a bit of TLC and some respraying, this could become a very nice “Youngtimer”. Not a big favourite of mine, but I guess it got some charm. And finally a couple of two-wheelers, wouldn’t mind having the CBR myself!
Pete in Lincs
One I forgot to post from yesterday... In Lincoln, of all things, a Routemaster Bus! Just the driver on board and looking like he was enjoying himself. Moving well through the traffic. On a D reg plate. Destination board was Muswell Hill, route 5. So a bit lost then. Lovely thing to see though. Today, Early this morning, westbound on the A17, a red mid sixties e type FHC. Later in Ramsey, a Daimler Dart in lovely condition, and a G reg Nova (the one with a boot) looking about five years old. Also today, location forgotten, a two tone 1100/1300 and a T reg 5 series BMW. Looking far better than any of the Bangle Beamers!
fatfingers
A gorgeous Volvo Amazon in red with lots of shiny chrome. Apologies for the dodgy pic as it's taken from the dashcam. Spiny
Another dodgy dashcam pic from me as well I'm afraid, this time a Fiat (as opposed to Bertone) X1/9 - given it was on a S-plate I believe that makes it c.1978. Also seen coming the opposite way on the A10 was a convoy of American classics - what looked like about a 1970 Chevelle, followed by a 60's Ford Falcon then a bit further back in a layby a 60s Mustang. Unfortunately, pics of all three are even lower quality than the one of the Fiat.

Zephyr
On a work trip last week, absolute middle of nowhere was a nice looking Standard Vanguard Phase 2 sedan parked on the forecourt of an old, unused service station. You see plenty of "yard art" derelict car and truck bodies out there but it was a pleasant surprise to see something so old still capable getting around under its own power. i wasn't driving so we didn't slow down to photograph all the interesting stuff- maybe next time!
paul-muc
A Bentley coupé in a street near the clinic areal. "To have or have not...." More details of the car are here in my Revell gallery. Vince1159
It looks ok but to be honest i'd rather have a 70's Bentley (instead of RR's Silver Shadow) or an 80's Mulsanne Turbo...
Chimpion
I'll understand if no-one believes this one without evidence - I could barely believe me eyes today driving North up the German A8 Autobahn. As I was driving I couldn't take a photo so you'll have to decide how trustworthy I am... I saw a Seat Ibiza. Not the latest facelift - I'd guess it was around 10 years old. What made it possibly my greatest spot ever was its rear end. Someone had moved the two rear wheels inwards so that they were within a foot of each other. At first I thought they'd made a three wheeler but there were definitely two distinct rear wheels very close to each other. Why anyone would do that to a Seat Ibiza of all things is beyond me. 1
Black Knight
A strange modification. There must be some very special reason. Perhaps in its home country that would classify it as a three-wheeler. afair in the UK if two wheels are within a certain distance of each other they are classed as one wheel thus there are scooters on our roads which have double wheels on the front or rear but are still classed as two-wheel motorcycles

The search results remind me of the other spot near Augsburg - a camouflaged SUV on Munich plates. I think it was a next generation BMW X5, but obviously completely unmarked.
rob Lyttle
Now then, not strictly a bona fide spot of the day except "Spot on fbook", but this came up on my pages and I'm wondering what.....?! Erm, late 50s perhaps? I immediately thought Velocette LE but that doesn't seem to be the case. The front forks look Ariel. Did they do a scootery type commuting thing? What is the BM verdict?
Windy37
I visited The Festival of The Unexceptional yesterday , my first time there and I must say it was like stepping back in time . No supercars , just old cars you would find in everyday life . It amazes me how the cars on show have been kept this tidy , and the amount of young folk showing these normal cars is encouraging for the future of the classic car scene . Of the huge amount of exceptional unexceptionable cars on show here are some that took my fancy . Datsun Cherry Coupe Fiat Strada Convertible Opel Monza Talbot Samba Convertible Toyota Tercel 4WD , ahead of ifs time and on MR2 wheels ! Citroen BX’s , a good few on show too Datsun 120Y and Toyota Corolla Renault 30 V6 and Peugeot 504 Alfa Sud Gary .
