There is, or was, (not seen it for a while) a mint looking minivan within 6 miles of here. previously he'd had a Mint Morris 1000 traveler!

Oh, next door have a real mini too. We've got you covered. (But you could leave it for a while if you so choose).

Cheers Pete as for leaving it for a while i'll have to wait and see what fate has lined up...

Nice cars!  The VW looks like the weird offspring of a Porsche 911 and a VW Type 3.  The sports car looks a bit like a Ginetta G4.

A Vauxhall Viva Brabham (never even new such a beast existed).

I always wanted one of those! My second car was a HB Viva in white. Thought that was boring so painted two red stripes over the top - by brush. Then saw a red Brabham - so painted the rest of the car red too - by roller this time! Then tried to mask and paint the Brabham stripe - back to a brush. I have to say that I hope the finish on my car models is better than my full size efforts!! 🤣

Still, I actually got more for the Viva when I traded it in for my first Mk1 Escort rally car than I originally paid for it!!

Yesterday there was a very original Triumph Herald lurking, from the looks of it I'd say it's probably never been restored but still appeared to be going strong.

Also hiding somewhere on the dashcam is a lovely silver Austin Healey 3000 (which most definitely HAD been restored) and two H-reg MX-5s, one in red and one in blue.

Incidentally, I'm sure that the Countach on the previous page is the one which followed me part of the way home from Silverstone Classics a few years ago - definitely a good sight in your rear view mirror :)

That VW SP2 is far too low. Unless it's on air suspension it surely must be awful to drive.

@keefr22 surely you now know the HB Viva Brabham was a terribly damp squib and a Mk1 Escort was a much better bet?! Saying that, one rolled up to the club parking for Donington Historic a few months ago and it was good see. The accompanying HC Firenza was more my style though.

Indeed, and I was glad I went the Ford route in the end :)

Speaking of these reminded me of this I saw the other day, driven by an elderly lady who seemed proud of it, I tried to be happy for her, as I agreed it was certainly distinctive. :D

Also spotted a 5th Gen Ford Mustang, a bit of a meh mobile to my mind but quite uncommon hereabouts & what I think was a 2020 Dodge Challenger R/T, did like the look of that, they capture the look of the originals quite effectively imho.

Here's a rare one, behind a pub just in Essex but close to the Suffolk border this morning.

A Datsun Skyline GT, A 1973 I think.  It's a mini Mustang fastbackish, but bigger than a Capri.

In need of lots of TLC. Okay a good restoration, but it didn't look that rotten.

The yellow paint had faded to something you see on a cement mixer. It's not the one in the link, but has now been sold.

I took my Rover 45 to the BMC & Leyland show at Gaydon on Sunday. The only Leyland badged vehicle there was this rare Leyland 15 van, based on the Standard Atlas.

This Rover 2000TC on wire wheels was one of my favourites, along with a very nice Riley RM.

There was a line up of eight Austin 3 litres, one of which was an ambulance.

On the sporting front there were ex works Big Healeys, rally Maxis and an MGA racer.

Of course there were plenty of examples of cars that were once a common sight but are rarely seen these days.

Representing BMC's overseas interests was this lovely Innocenti C  coupe.

To finish the day on the way home I was passed by a black Sierra Cosworth RS500.

I've seen a lot of photos from this year's BMC/BL show, It always attracts a great selection of cars but this year seems to have been particularly good.  That's got to be a large percentage of the total number of surviving Austin 3 litres.  I almost wish I'd gone on Sunday.

One reason I didn't go on Sunday was that I was helping the museum out (as one of its volunteers) at MOD Kineton showing a few of the museum's cars with military connections including this Standard Ensign in which a few lucky visitors got passenger rides.

Oooh, those look nice. I'm guessing this is an annual event. I might need to place another visit to the UK to take this in, it looks seriously yummy.

Yes, it's an annual event, usually early July.  Details of events at the museum can be found here.

Today's spots: a BMW i8 and a 22-plate Bentley Bentayga.   The latter blocked me in on the school run while they got their child out... entitled much?  🤬

I've been in Dresden for the first half of the week on a business trip and in the evening we had a guided tour of the grounds of some stately homes on the Elbe. In the service area of one of them was an old (1960s or 70s) German Ford minibus. I have a photo but will have to wait till I get home to post it. Today we travelled from Dresden to Munich and in the eastern part of Germany twice encountered Trabants on the Autobahn - first an estate then later a saloon. They weren't exactly keeping up with the BMWs but we're going along at a reasonable pace.

So nice to see the Ensign- probably pretty ordinary in its day but quite special now. I have a Ferguson TED-20 tractor with the same (more or less...) Standard engine, well designed and incredibly durable and reliable.

Unrestored and still in almost daily use after 69 years.
