There is an Auto jumble here at Hemswell on the last Saturday of the month. I had to go to the shop up the road early this morning.

On the way back I spotted a dark mustard coloured Marina Coupe. Probably heading for the jumble.

Looks like it's in a movie style car chase and just backed in there as the cops race past in hot pursuit , while failing to spot where he went !Ā

GaryĀ

Ā

Funny you mention movies, because I saw today that George Clooney had been filming very near to here (as in this is the nearest public car park). Which I guess increases the likelihood that it's the real thing?

Ā

As for today, forgot the dashcam, but an A-reg Renault Trafic camper in beige must rank near the top for unusual, but unexciting, spots of the day.

Today our city celebrated the 175th anniversary of the local fire department. Besides the many activities and demos, obviously there were also quite a lot of fire vehicles on display. Among them even some very nice ones from the Oldtimer department.Ā

@desert falconĀ Nice collection of machines, old and new.Ā

Today, within a couple of minutes of each other near Sturton by Stow, North of Lincoln.

A large quite square American saloon in white, maybe a Chevy, towing a caravan.Ā

And a roadside house there with a Rover 2000 and (I think) a Sunbeam Rapier or Hillman super Minx on the drive.

Went to Jakarta last Sunday, pretty disappointed that I missed a Murcielago 640, a 991 Speedster, an SLS Black Series and a 600LT Spider.

Ā

Ā

Met this Dark Olive Magno G63 though. Very popular offroaders of late, seen a bucketload of them everywhere.

Ā

Ā

Gorgeous Python Green 992 Carrera S with SportDesign pack. Love to see more bright-coloured 911 than your usual black or white.

Ā

Ā

Mustang Mach 1 looking handsome, pretty much my favourite Mustang of the current crop... that is available as RHD.

This though. Based from a genuine 190E 2.5 Cosworth, but has been converted to EVO spec complete with the engine. Absolutely spiffing. Also, it followed a silver DB9. Which makes it extra cool.

A trip to the coast led to spots of a Moggy Traveller and a very nice Beach Buggy on widened steelies.

A few interesting oldies over the last week or so, one outing brought forth a 1981 Escort 1.3, 4 door, square head lights & mid blue metallic paint, a little later was a Vauxhall Viva HA, light yellow lower body with a white roof, both new to me, the HA was a real neck twister, so long since I've seen one of them. A couple of days later came upon this parked along from us.

From memory, having looked it up but then forgotten the rego, it is a 1959 Vauxhall Velox. A little later on the same trip, a Ford Anglia Saloon, similar colour to the Vauxhall & looking fairly original other than some Alloy wheels & at a guess, going by the spirited way its young driver was getting along, something slightly non standard under the bonnet.

Steve.

That's an early / pre facelift one - the three piece rear window (as opposed to full, one piece wrap around) is the main difference, but nose and tail were also changed.Ā  Looks like the NZ climate has been kinder to it than the UK one would have been!

Ā

My spots this morning - WW2 era (or at least, painted up as such...) 6 wheel US truck on the main road out of the village - not sure what model though, a late Sunbeam Alpine roadster (vertical tail lights, 1725 badge) down at the local boat yard, and a Corvette C3 coupe & a Chesil Speedster (on the basis that no way it was the real thing...) both on a driveway being tinkered with about 2 mins from my house, neither of which I'd seen before.

Why is there so much money in Indonesia? I often wonder, looking at all these thoroughbreds.

Reasons. Some are good, others... eh, less so.

Also, do consider the fact that imported cars with engine bigger than 3-litres do receive a 125% VAT over purchase price. So yeah, you're looking at a GBP360k worth of AMG G63.

A Fiat MX5 (you know what I mean)!!

and this

Very interesting as it hasn't been MoT'd since 2011. Just sitting outside an ordinary house. A case for restoration?

Brilliant stuff mate. My uncle and grandfather were both in the Feuerwehr so they could have been in the earlier ones. Miniart were going to realease a kit of the early dark green wagon but it has been on pause for a couple of years. A shame as it looks to be a cracking kit.

I was driving behind a beautiful E-Type, champagne silver (?). To my untrained eye the back end, exhausts/suspension/shocks etc. looked to be brand new, non original parts. Would E-Type owners clubs look down on a car like that or are they not too fussy about modern parts being used on restorations?

How did the rear lights look? If they looked ā€œrightā€ rather than slightly out of place with the tail end and bumpers, then maybe it was an Eagle or other restomod E Type. I donā€™t think owners clubs have any issues with those (other than maybe most members wishing they could afford one ;-P)

best,

M.

Thanks for that. The back lights also looked perfect and very new so probably a very high quality restomod. It had the Jaguar logo so could have been one of their own in-house restorations.

That would indeed be a cracking kit! In general, it's a shame that there isn't more "Feuerwehr" stuff around in scale 1/24, though Revell have done some kits over the years.Ā

Around and about in Cambridgeshire today...

I was delivering to the Chequers pub in Fowlmere, when a K reg Dino drove past. (red of course).

In Cambridge, a whiteĀ  Morris 1000. So shiny it looked like porcelain.Ā

Near Romsey, an Escort XR3I, and the other side of Romsey, a mid sixties Blue (I think) Dodge Coronet. One of my favourites!
