nick Posted September 8, 2023 Author Posted September 8, 2023 In other news, this just came off first time This is the joy of my new Saturn 3 Ultra, I would have spend about 3 weeks of misery scraping wreckage off the Saturn 2 at this stage. It's just curing and I will attempt to separate it from the supports which will be interesting. Stand by! Nick 4
PROPELLER Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Hi Nick! With my dinosaur's eyes why don't do a mix brass mesh and printed piece? Dan.

Kurt Johnson Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 Nick, Will any of the parts, most especially the engine, be available scaled to 1/24? Kurt
Noel Smith Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 (edited) Nick, it's been a bit quiet for about a month on here. What is the latest news on your Bugatti and Bentley developments? That Revell chrome finish looks very impressive in your last post. What pre preparation did you do on that radiator shell prior to the chrome going on? Is it an aerosol or airbrush application, and how durable is it? Many of the 'chromes' out there tend to not handle very well. Edited October 16, 2023 by Noel Smith
nick Posted October 16, 2023 Author Posted October 16, 2023 Yes been busy with other ‘real world’ projects including day-job stuff as well knocking the house about. This has resulted in a load of cast-off laminate flooring that I’m just finishing fitting in the workshop. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible Nick 1
Noel Smith Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 I laid laminate flooring in my workshop, but still manage to actually lose small things that drop on the floor. In theory I shouldn't!........Where the blinking heck they manage to disappear to is beyond me.....Don't ask! Lol. I now understand why jewellers have a special apron that fits between themselves and their workbenches. But then, they work in previous metals and gemstones, not bits of plastic, wood etc.
Pete in Lincs Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 Decades ago at school we hwd white woodworking aprons. I often wish I'd kept mine. Instead I suffer from modellers twitch. Snapping my knees together so save something as it hurtles downwards. I just had a look on the big river site. A little a 5.99. with pockets & with free delivery. Hmmm
Noel Smith Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 Pete. I wonder if Screwfix sell woodworking aprons?

I assume it’s made of minced up real chrome and pixie dust for that.
Malc2 Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 £35 - Blimey! I thought £20 for a tube of ready to spray Molotow was expensive! M.
Noel Smith Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 (edited) How robust and durable is the Revell Chrome when handled after it has dried?I At £35 a pop I would expect it to be good! Only trouble with aerosols is the sheer paint wastage when spraying small parts. Will Revell be marketing this product for airbrush use too as the spray pattern can be controlled much better with an aitbrush? Most 'chromes' have a tendency to rub off easily and need handling with extreme care afterwards. Hopefully this Revell stuff will be a lot harder than the majority of chrome finishes. colin Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 You could decant it from the can for airbrush use, I do this with Tamiya rattle cans, as you say saves a lot of waste Have a look on YouTube a few people have been trying it out and it looks promising although expensive
Noel Smith Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 Decanting from aerosols. Been there already. Good suggestion and works fine. But! It's just the faffing about doing it that gets me. I must be getting lazy in my old age!
nick Posted November 3, 2023 Author Posted November 3, 2023 Firstly, I ain't dead yet, which may come as a disappointment to some members, but I have finally finished knocking my house about AND, more importantly, finished upgrading my workshop. As well as the new floor, I've installed 'gas-tight' plinths around the base of everything so (theoretically) nothing can get lost on the floor. we'll see. Seems a shame to make a mess in there now, but I may even do a bit of model making shortly, you just never know. Nick 4
Brandy Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 For God's sake do NOT open the door without first checking the wind direction and speed! Ian
Noel Smith Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 Very neat workshop Nick . Mine has become a bit of a mess! This might inspire me to sort it out big time!

nick Posted December 7, 2023 Author Posted December 7, 2023 Fair cop. I will rekindle my enthusiasm shortly. 👍🤓 1
