StarWarsModeler
Does anyone know any 172 kits that are good? Doesn't need to be a certain scale. Edited September 17, 2021 by StarWarsModeler

Scott Garard
1/72: Arii (and Gemini Jets have a diecast) 1/48: Minicraft and Italeri (Esci moulds) 1/20: Nichimo (rare and expensive)
Tripod
1/36: Marui (not as rare or expensive). According to Scalemates it was available as a floatplane as well as on wheels. The Arii/Eidai kit was also available in separate boxings with wheels and floats.
SAT69
Nichimo made a 1/20 scale Cessna 1/72 kit that was absolutely gorgeous. I had one many long years ago but didn't have the modeling skills to make the most of what the kit had to offer. You can still find the kit at eBay for between $270 and $300. Where you'd find decals for it I don't even begin to know.

TheyJammedKenny!
Herpa made a pre-built C-172 in 1/87 scale. It's perfect for railroad layouts if you can find it.

Which one did it better is not up to me as I've only seen the Esci kits. Some comparisons can be found here: https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/88191-esci-148-cessna-172/ The Minicraft kit has been reboxed by a Turkish company named PM Model. The Esci kit has been reboxed by Modelcraft from Canada. For a full overview, check Scalemates! The Esci kit has a lot of raised rivets which are, off course, not to scale. However, I chose to not remove them on my model. I really like how well this kit captures the Skyhawk shapes!
