Airfix 1/76 US Marines

Looking for something not too complicated to be going on with, I got these old things out. There are 66 figures (mostly the second type), but some poses are missing, so no complete set.

I'm using illustrations in two books, Army Uniforms of World War 2 and The Armed Forces of World War II for reference. I won't be correcting mistakes in their attire, merely painting them in my interpretation of their uniforms. I have eight options.

I didn't keep a record of those painted previously, but they were probably done with enamels. I recall they were painted as US Private of Infantry, 30th Infantry Division, Normandy, June 1944, because of their camouflaged uniforms. They will be re-done.

Here is the single Type 1 figure.

Quite crude by comparison.

Cheers Fred, most of the figures have received Humbrol Acrylic 61 Matt Flesh with Vallejo Model Color 70845 20 Sunny Skintone and 70860 21 Medium Fleshtone to make variations in skin tones

10 figures are Vallejo Model Color 70822 150 German Camouflage Black Brown / Humbrol Acrylic 29 Matt Dark Earth for Afro-Caribbean skin tones

10 of the figures are being painted as The Armed Forces of World War II – Illustration 362 Lieutenant, US Marine Corps, Pacific 1945. and I've used Vallejo Model Color 70893 95 US Dark Green for the Combat overall and Vallejo Model Color 70818 136 Red Leather with 70871 147 Leather Brown merged to make subtle shades of their boots.

The camouflage uniforms were short-lived as they were easily confused with Waffen SS uniforms.
