Michael M
I'm calling this one done. It was supposed to be nice and relaxing project, allowing me to rest after tiny little bits on Fuyuzuki and it turned to be as always WIP Cheers Mick 24
beefy66
Great job Mick I like the finish on the nose sonar domes and your weathering is it all oils or a mix of paint and oils cracking finish all round. 👍 Stay Safe beefy
Richard E
Excellent: your weathering and overall finish create a very lifelike model but adding a couple of figures are a simple step which bring it to life.
robgizlu
Beautiful finish, tones and weathering - the figures really set it off Superb Rob
Bitzer
Beautiful job! Love the weathering and rust effects. I have a friend that uses the same techniques you used on the sonar dome but for the life of me I can't achieve the same effects.
Adm Lord De Univers
Amazing. I'm going to be pouring through that wip with interest. David
Michael M
Thanks gentlemen. Beefy it's a bit of everything, hairspray, oils, enamels and shading with airbrush. In this case I think I used only Tamiya paints for base colours and Alclad for the the domes. It's a pity it's such an old model, if it was done with modern technologies effect would be much better. This boat has potential This in very nice scale for submarines, not as big as 1/72 but not as timy as 1/350 or 1/700. We need more models like this Thankfully something is starting to move on this front, that new Shchuka from Zvezda is brilliant and Trumpy is popping them out in that scale for a while now, the downside is that they're concentrating on them new boring ones

Bertie McBoatface
It is a very interesting model, beautifully painted. The tiny figures are excellent. And as so many others, I like the sonar dome painting very much. Is it a real boat or a movie creation?
HansReggelsen
Now that is a well built model! I always like it, when one puts figures on a ship model - gives a sense of scale! I wonder what the two sailors at the front is talking about, though... Cheers Hans J

It's a real boat, Chinese converted one normal 033G to this standard. There was no follow ups, so they must have found her to under-perform Edited June 29, 2022 by Michael M

Marcello Rosa
Fantastic work. The weathering of the hull in particular, concluding the "sludge" just above the waterline. What photos did you use for reference there?
Michael M
Thanks Marcello, photos of this particular boat are like hen's teeth I just used general knowledge and my collection of pictures from dry docks as an inspiration.
