I am going to watch this build with interest and awe. Having seen the pics of the "sprues" and the resin, I accept that this kit is totally beyond me and am at peace with that.

Looking forward to seeing your progress, this is going to be an incredible build.

You are welcome to have a seat when the show starts ...bring snacks and drink :)

That's a beautifully produced kit and judging by your two finished ones I'm sure you'll do it justice. Looking forward to your build.

Thanks :D

really can't wait to set my claws at the Jetmads kit.....it takes a lot of self-discipline to not pop the lid :P

Thanks for the peak in the box. Can't wait to see you start on it.

I'm still waiting for mine but sadly Jetmads says they can't ship it as Turkish Post currently isn't shipping to Canada.

So I'm in a holding pattern at the moment.

It does give me time to finish my CF-18 I guess.

Wut?? That sounds incredibly odd... did you beat them too often at hockey or what??

  • 2 weeks later...

LoL, the replacement wing arrived and was returned to sender by the Swedish postal service! Apparently declaring it as "sample" didn't fly with the customs so they decided to return it....

I was furious but a pleasant dialogue with Jetmads calmed me down.... those guys have a fenomenal customer service, always friendly and quick to answer you.

So to be continued!...

Well then,

The last commission build is done, now I'll tidy up the hobbyroom and then take sweet pics of the finished Viggens and then it's

all systems go on the Jetmads Viggen!

I know you have waited for it patiently while finished my backlog but now it´s time, my first build post!

I haven´t opened the box since I took the inbox pictures, was afraid I couldn´t resist the temptation :P
Now the lid is popped for good and I started on the ejection seat as per the instruction.

No sprues but resin boxes containing 3D printed parts...feels odd and with trepadation I lifted out the relevant boxes.

IMG_4786.JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=

Ok, the parts look the part but how do I remove them without ruining anything?

IMG_4787.JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=

I snipped the print supports very carefully with my cutter and I I felt like I was disarming a bomb!
When you cut off a support pretty often there is a ping as the support just shoots off...as did smaller parts when I cut them off the block.
There are tension in the supports and a cutter isn´t really ideal for cutting the parts off...think I´ll try my decals scissors the next time.

so this is what you are dealing with when you start...tension plus very fragile parts...that shoots off :P
Any way I managed to gather the parts for the bang seat.

IMG_4788.JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=

Another issue is that there are layers on the parts and they have to be cleaned somehow...I started with sanding carefully.

IMG_4789.JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=

I found that scarping is the way forwards, it´s quicker and you have more control over what is removed.

IMG_4790.JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=

Oh this is nasty, not easy to scrape without loosing a nut or two :P

IMG_4791.JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=

But with careful scraping with a knife or a scraper tool it is manageable.

IMG_4792.JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=

IMG_4793.JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=

Gosh, look at the details!

IMG_4794.JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=

Did I loose a part? yeah, of course! one of these little buggers shot off into eternity...guess I´ll have to scratch a replacement.

IMG_4796.JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=

I put the bang seat together as n ot to lose more parts :P Looks neat tho :D

IMG_4800.JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=

The seat and seat parts ready for primer and paint.

IMG_4803.JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=

Well that´s it for this time! The build has officially started!

Cheers!

If things are pinging it’s because of residual stress from the printing process. You might try ( gently) heating the parts and letting them cool slowly to anneal them.

Really interested to see how this one turns out.

Cut them while soft maybe, but you can't anneal resin.
