F6F-5N Nightfighter - Eduard 1/48

Hi all,
I'll take part in this contest with this Eduard kit, evolution of a 2008 Kit:

to make this F6F-5N (Night fighter version) White 21, fitted with an AN/APS-6 radar, deployed aboard the carrier USS Enterprise CV-6 between December 24, 1944 and May 31, 1945 Together with Night Torpedo Squadron 90, Night Fighter Squadron 90 made up Night Air Group 90.
In intensive action over Luzon, Formosa, Tokyo, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and Kyushu, VF(N)-90 claimed 42 enemy planes destroyed, four more damaged or destroyed, and was the second most successful VF(N) squadron in World War II.

Moreover the decals have a very thick film ...

Like just out the factory ... Ready for the weathering ...

Bravo! That was amazing progress! :thumbsup:

 

I'm 💩 at weathering. Would you mind explaining your excellent exhaust staining? While my aircraft is fresh from the factory, it does really need some exhaust staining...

Thanks mate ...

 

For the exhaust staining I airbrushed a very thinned Nato Black (10% color - 90% Nitro) a low pressure ... then, with the same method, a Deck Tan above the black ...
