ArnoldAmbrose
Gidday, I'm glad you didn't burn it. It must have been quite a trial, but I think you can be proud of your perseverance and dedication, and how the model is turning out. adolfocaetanonetto
New update. I realy dont know what it this, that there is in the keel, in midships. And I cant explain how I made it, because it's confuse, and I rebuild this part three times. 🙄. If any question, you may to ask me. Unfortunately I forgot to plan this piece, and I need adapt it to the ship! Sorry for this confuse mounting! Now, other error int he mounting. The torpedoes doors are not good. So I cut the local. And make the internal reinforcements to glue the new piece. I did the reinforcements lines of the hull, using cardboard. In the stern I repeat the reinforments lines. I cut the new piece for the torpedoes doors; after I bonded two thin cardboards square pieces in the first piece; finally I cut the excess piece and I made the hole marks (with automatic pencil, like I did in the deck). Now I cut a piece of derpon (or foam, or whatever) and I stuck it inside in the hull, to made a structural reinforcement This piece I glued with polystyrene glue. And I attached the new doors in the local. The result is better that the first time.
adolfocaetanonetto
Building the stern torpedo door. I cut the exit of torpedo tube, in the hull. In sequence I cut a piece "A", and glued it in the local. I finish it closing the torpedo hatch (a single cardboard circle). Now the structure (or fin, or whatever) of the hidroplanes, made with double thick cardboard. I glued a thin cardboard over the fin. Later I cut a cardboard with a border curved, and glue in the both sides of the fin. After the glue draw, I sanded the curved border until it stays a "zero" step (I was clear? 🤔). To this I ised sandpapers monted in different cillindric handles After all ready, I noticed that the fin was wrong... 🙄. Its was bigger than correct. And I go to cut the excess... Easy to cut a double thick cardboard, almost like cut wood with a kitchen knife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I build the propelers suport, with cardboard. In the middle of the piece, I cut a snap to the fin. And the fairing of the propelers shafts, made with bamboo stick. On the edge oft he piece I I made a hole, (using my new toy), where the shaft through. And the pieces mounted.

adolfocaetanonetto
And now, the "holes saga". I needed to make the thousands of holes in the hull. So I decided to drill the hull, using a needle and a scalpel, drilling the marks that I drew. In sequence, I used a tool that I made, with sprue, to give a square shape to the hole. And I do the spherical holes in the hull, using the manual dremel Anda I hate the result!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man, its horrible. In the stern I decided change the technique. I cut the place where there are holes. Under the bow, I repeat the process, cutting the local. Inside the hull, I glued a depron piece, to maintain the hull resistance. Later I cut a long cardboard square, glued a internal reinforcement and a bamboo stick, to maintain the shape of the piece. I glued the long cardboard squarein in the local, and attached internal reinforcement. In sequence, I cut lots of long cardboard strips and glue like the photo Later I cut the excess of the reinforcements and glued more strips crossing the others. I make lots of tiny cardboard squres, around 1 mm; I applied white glue in the cross of the strips and glued the tiny squares there. Finally I use my "putty" (texture wall) and sandpaper. I like this result! And I decided reform the first holes. I hope to be clear, guys; not easy try explain my mounting in other language.🤨
adolfocaetanonetto
New update, after a long time. My job, my family routine and domestic work (yes, I wash clothes and cook... Me and my wife, and both have job! Dode, its a hard life!!!!) I decided rebuilt all holes in the hull. Double work...! 🙄. I cut off the local in the hull; later I cut lots of little cardboard strips (pieces A); so I glued the little strips in the local. But how I glued the strips? Well, I forgot take photos in the begin; so I show in the last strip!!! 🤔. I used a tweezers to pick up a strip paper and inserted inside the hull (I apllied glue inside, in the local previously. After all strips glued, I cut lots of little cardboard squares (pieces B ) and use a dental instrument, called probe hook (piece C), that I modified, leavind the instrument tip straight; I apllied glue over the strips and I used the probe (piece C) to pick up the squares and put it in correct local used the probe to After "Putty" (wall texture) and sand paper, I got a much better result. In the bow I repeat the process.

adolfocaetanonetto
Update, after a loooooong time! In the stern there are two grids, like in the bow. I made with many paper strips, like a stairs. I cut and painted (with black) the space of the grid. Later I glued the grid in the correct local. Wall texture like putty; and sandpaper. Over the axis propeler fairing I made more three holes. Edited November 11, 2021 by adolfocaetanonetto

adolfocaetanonetto
More update. Now the d*mnaned deck!!!!🥺. I make the deck with cardboard, with scratches to simulate the wood deck. This choice was bad! I see that with the painting the scratches would diseapear! So I decided rebuilt the deck, using wood balsa. I chose thin sheets to this. I marked the deck contour with an automatic pencil To mounting the new deck, I removed the old, and sanded the local, after glued the new wood deck. The stern and bow I make with thick cardboard; in the real submarine this local was built with steel, I guess. Later I scratched the marks in the deck, using an automatic pencil. How the balsa is soft, is easy!😉 To make the marks, I used a ruler and an automatic pencil, pressing strongly the point on the wood. Detail of the stern and all deck
adolfocaetanonetto
Now I will post the deck details. I made the hatches; a cardboard circle (A) and a cardboard strip (B) glued each other; later I glued another strip (C). A piece that goes in the stern; two cardboard strips, one straight (E) and other with a curve (D), glued each other; later I cut the ends. Other piece of the stern (I guess this is a light or scout window...). A piece (F) was glued in a strip (G); later I glued another strips over the set. Now a piece that goes in the bow; a piece (H) glued in strip; I forgot take photo, but I cut the excess. Sets D/E and F/G in the position. Piece H in position. I builded a piece with a double cardboard circle, with a hole in the center. I glued some cardboard strips around the circle. So I made a piece (I) with sculped toothpick, and glued it in the hole of the circle. Now I painting the hull. I applied tape and painted the bottom of hull with medium gray. After dry, I painted the top of the hull with light gray. The deck was painted with Deck Tan Tamiya. The deck ends was painted with medium gray, like the bottom hull. Here is possivel see the hatches, painted with medium gray too. After dry, I made wash with a mix (black and dark brown) over the deck. Before dry, I remove the excess More close.
