Good evening
I continue my series of Air Force aircraft with another jet the F84 G Tamiya ..
A little bit of history:
The F-84E "Thunderjet" is the first fighter jet delivered by the United States to the French Air Force under the MDAP. The first 14 (out of 46) were officially delivered  in the presence of General Eisenhower at the Reims base in May 1951. The "Thunderjet" replaces the DH-100 "Vampire" and is used to equip first the squadrons "Champagne" and "Navarre" of the 3° Escadre de Chasse.

Much more important were the deliveries of the F-84G which began in 1952. This more efficient version of the "Thunderjet" was to be used to equip the 1°, 9°, 11° and 33° Wings, as well as the re-equipment of the 3° Wing. In 1953, in order to reinforce the means of fighter-bombardment of 1° CATac, 1°, 3° and 11° Wings were each equipped with an additional squadron of 25 aircraft. In the end, 316 F-84E/G will be taken into account by the French Air Force, equipping up to 15 different CATac units attached to NATO Central Europe Command.

What a great choice, Patrice :). The Thunderjet/Streak/Flash series was the backbone of the Armee de l’Air for many years and so your choice is very appropriate. I have this exact kit and decal set, among others. I am interested to see how she builds up :).

Good evening

I started today this build by the cockpit I placed the decals representing the instrument and then I glued the instrument panel and the stick in the "bathtube"

Very nice, Patrice. The cockpit is always my area of least delight!

Good afternoon

Yesterday i panted the OD band on the nose and the top of the fuselage

But I think that the anti glare panel on the nose is too narrow and I would like to know your opinion ?

Best regards

Hi Patrice

Yes I think the panel should be wider when we compare with this picture

Patrice,

Glad to see one of these in the GB and you're making great progress.

I agree that the anti-glare panel is slightly narrow, I think you've started yours from slightly too far forward.

Have you decided upon a unit yet?

Good afternoon

@ Ridgerunner

I think that I will choose the aircraft of EC 3/1 Argonne based at St Dizier ..

I think that it is too late now for the 3rd aircraft with the red tail and wings as I am rather pleased with the NMF paint ...

@Wez Thank you for your comment I will try tomorrow to widen the antiglare panel

Best Regards

Patrice

That's looking good Patrice, the anti glare shield looks right.

Is this an F-84G rather than an F-84E?

Good morning Wez

Thank you , yes it is an F84 G ...

Best regards

Patrice

It's very nice. Good NMF.

Edit: Oh. I only just realised it's 1/72. Take that as a compliment.

Good morning  Bertie

Thank you for your compliment ..

Cheers
