Here’s my effort for the Hellcat STGB.

Eduard 1:48 Hellcat Mk.II

"Out of the box" except replacement resin machine guns, I broke the kit supplied ones shortly after assembling the wings.

How did you emphasize panel lines? They're noticeable, understated and give the gloss sea blue finish some depth. Nicely done short cake!

thanks

the weathering was done in several stages, starting with masking some panels with thin Tamiya tape and then spraying additional layers of primer, @Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies showed this in a recent build, he achieved a far better result than I did, and it was his technique that prompted me to build this in the first place.

Then the "black basing" marble layer had various shades of not quite blacks and greys, the effect is very subtile but depending on the angle you look at it giving a nice colour variation.

After the dark sea blue was applied, different 502 Abeteilung oil paints were used to create dirt and grime, these were used along some of the panel lines where the muck would naturally(?) build up.

These oil paints were also used to "tone down" some of the metal chips, the dark sea blue made subtle weathering very difficult as the dark colour swallows the darker tones and makes the lighter tones appear way too bright, its a balancing act and I'm happy with the results, very tempted to do another "single colour" version @81-er is building a drone Hellcat which is red with a coloured tail, very tempted to use this scheme for the other kit (Mk.I) that came in the Eduard box.
