theplasticsurgeon
Joining you with this recent acquisition from IPMS Avon show. Cost £7. To build this 2 seat option, which happens to be Danish. Post-dated photo of parts, earlier this morning. Raised panel detail, little interior - I suspect this Draken kit has been overtaken in quality. Originally released in 1977, and last seen in 2000.
theplasticsurgeon
Whilst waiting, here are my previous Drakens - both Airfix. This one, built gear-up in about 1987. Then this, around 1996ish. So you'll see why I'm not building a Flygvapnet Draken.
desert falcon
So nice to see a 2 seater Draken from “Danemark” 🇩🇰 Good luck with the build!
theplasticsurgeon
This is all the cockpit that you get. Tubs, crude seats, blank instrument panels - no decals. 2
helios16v
Do what you gotta do. Would've been nice if there was a panel set out there for these like the Quinta jobs. I ended up springing for an Aires resin pit for single seater...I'm hoping I don't regret it.
Paramedic
Nice, old, classic kit. greta job so far, looking forward to the rest! Always liked those Danish Drakens, especially the first paintings, weathered..
trickyrich
gosh that was a bargain!! Welcome along with a Draken....one of many I expect we'll see. Though last time the Viggen one by numbers, I wonder if it will this time? Good to see you're off to a good start. Good luck with the build.
theplasticsurgeon
Cockpits fitted. And fuselage, if you can call it that. Airframe completed. Outer wings suffered shrinkage, I'm trying to fix that with filler and Tippex. Draken trainers - well the Danish ones, only had the port cannon, so I'm filling the stbd one.

Christer A
Yep, that looks a lot like the Heller Draken that I remember 😃 Nice job so far!

theplasticsurgeon
Much sanding later, I've got this. And filled the cannon port on this side. This model feels like it's going to need loads of ballast. 4
theplasticsurgeon
Tim's balance rig. spues superglued in place alongside the locations for U/C legs. Nosecone filled with finely chopped pieces of lead - borderline balance. A rolled up piece of lead into that nose orifice, under the coaming sealed the deal.
theplasticsurgeon
Now for a rare treat. A Danish Draken at Fairford. A photo that I took in 1985. This morning I dunked the canopy in Klear - now curing.
theplasticsurgeon
Canopy fitted, then airbrushed Humbrol 116 this afternoon. And canopy framed.
trickyrich
wow you are making quick work of her. Shame about tall those sink makes but from the look of that top coat you sorted them out nicely, great finish to the paint!
theplasticsurgeon
Two coats of Klear have changed the colour of this model. Then decals, joining the Danish Air Force.

stevehnz
Nicely done Tim, that looks very smart. I'm keen to do a Danish one from a Hasegawa kit I have, this has given me some good pointers, maybe for the 'next' Nordic GB. Steve

trickyrich
well done Tim, on a nice quick build and a nice looking model, she looks great. You're right that clear coat changed the colour perfectly. Thanks for joining us here, I hope you enjoyed the build... and will we see another one?
