reini
Oh no, I've missed 'Cooking with Bosse' And the F-16 & Lansen too F-16 looks like a handful but it seems that you have the right moves to beat it into submission.
Marlin
Hi, and thank reini. This weekend I worked mostly on my Netz II, but I got some work done on the Norwegian F-16 as well. By work I mean filling gaps. I've now built three Kinetic F-16's and I'd these gaps on all of them. A very thin gap on the front of the air intake. 070 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr A slightly bigger gap where the air intake meets the rest of the fuselage. 071 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The gaps is on both sides of the intake. And I didn't get the panels in the nose completely right, so I had to use some putty on one of them. 072 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Then it became Saturday evening and this evening we had lots of shrimps, lots of nice chilled Riesling and bread, cheeses etc was on the menu. 073 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr To be continued..... /Bosse

Marlin
Ahoy Vikings. Last weekend we celebrated "Fake Christmas" at the cottage. 074 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Fake Christmas is a Holiday my youngest son invented in 2011. We celebrated the Christmas Days at the cottage in 2010, but nobody liked it because that winter we'd more than a meter of snow there. And all we could do was to melt snow on the wood stove so we had water for washing and for the toilet. So I said never again. And that started Axel thinking. He said, but we can celebrate Christmas at the cottage earlier than the real Christmas. Said and done. So for the last ten years we celebrate the Friday before the 1st of Advent just like it was Christmas. I think the real reason Axel invented it was so that he could get one more Christmas present, and not for the Christmas food. And since I really like Christmas, we always go all in for it. So Friday morning started with a traditional Christmas breakfast. 075 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Rice porridge with sugar and cinnamon, a ham sandwich, coffe and orange juice. This year I found a new mustard. 076 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr One of the makers here does a special one every year, this year it was seasoned with Gin and Orange. It was perfect on the ham sandwich. We had nice, but cold, weather on Friday. 078 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr No snow yet, but cold. The temperature didn't raise above -4C the whole weekend. A Fake Christmas isn't complete if you don't have a "Glögg-fika". 077 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Glögg is Swedish for moulded wine, red wine infused with sugar and spices, much like the German Glühwine but stronger. When the sun set, around 2:30pm this time of the year. 080 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I lit some lights in the garden. 079 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And then it was time for the traditional Christmas smörgåsbord. First a cold plate 081 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And followed by a hot plate. 082 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr After this feast we were all very full and just relaxed in the livingroom watching Christmas movies. Axel did go out to look at the stars and took some pictures of them. 084 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr On Saturday we hung up an old quilt to stop the heat going out the door. 083 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I'd ordered a cubic meter of wood from my local farmer that we put on the patio. 085 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I also Christmas decorated the pylon I've put up to support the roof on the patio. The real column is rotten and will have to be replaced. The pylon is only temporary, i.e it's been there the last five years I think. 086 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And Saturday was still Fake Christmas, so on with the Christmas smörgåsbord again. 087 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 088 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr We had of course bought too much food as usual, so I got leftovers from the Christmas smörgåsbord for dinner on Sunday as well. And since then I've been continuing with my Norwegian F-16 It's time to glue the landing gears in place, first the main gear. 090 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And then the nose gear. 091 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I'll be working on the landing gears the coming days. To be continued..... /Bosse
JeroenS
Bosse, 2 Christmasses each year, you live life to the max don't you 🙂 .. Eating all that nice food, presents. What's not to like! I like your temporary pilon too.
Marlin
Thanks Jeroen. This year I actually will get 3 Christmases , We celebrated Midsummers Eve, as Christmas Eve this summer. My wifes brother is fond of Christmas Turkey, and we usually celebrate Christmas together. But because of Covid-19 and some other family illness we wasn't able to do so in 2019 and 2020. So this Midsummers Eve we invited him and his wife to the cottage for a Midsummers Eve Christmas dinner with all the Christmas trimmings. They even got a Christmas present each. It was a rather fun and nice way to surprise them. /Bosse

Marlin
Thanks Pat. Actually, the Christmas Tree at the cottage has now been in the same place, with it's decorations, for three years now. I've nowhere else to put it at the moment. /Bosse
Marlin
Ahoy Vikings. I've got almost all pieces for the landing gears in place. 092 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 093 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 094 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I'll be painting all parts white a few times, and as the paint dries I'll be working on the exhausts. 095 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr To be continued..... /Bosse
JeroenS
They look nicely detailed Bosse.
Marlin
Thanks Jeroen. Yes, they're quite detailed, I only wish that the instructions were as detailed. You really don't have exact instructions on where the connecting points for each piece goes. And some parts have a pin, but there's no corresponding hole where the pin is supposed to go. /Bosse
JeroenS
Right, I hate that... sometimes it seems that manufacturers don't ever build their own stuff.
Boman
Bosse, RNoAF F-16AM #687 retired today to the Air Force Museum at Gardemoen. Once de-mil'ed she will be put on display there 👍
Marlin
Ahoy Vikings. Thanks for the information @Boman, I've yet to visit Gardemoen Air Force Museum., but I'll try to make an effort to tick that one of my list. I've got a ton of small thing I'll have to fix on my Norwegian F-16. As usual I had some troubles with the air intake. Which resulted in a gap, which also show when the covering part between the landing gear bays was glued in place. 097 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I actually had to enlarge the gap a bit so a suitable piece of plasticard could fill the gap. When I get home from work later today I'll trim and sand off the excess plastic. 098 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've also completed half of the exhaust package. 096 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I plane to have the exhaust package done by this evening, and remove some AM specific antennas, and perhaps I can prime it late this evening. To be continued..... /Bosse
Marlin
Ahoy Vikings. This weekend I had some time to do some serious work on my Norwegian F-16 I've got the exhaust package in place. 099 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I've sanded, puttied, sanded again the gap between the landing gear bays, and glued the front part of the air intake in place. 100 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The instructions don't mentions a nose weight, but I always put in some just in case. 101 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And glued in place. 102 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I did get a step where the exhaust package meets the fuselage, so out with the putty. 103 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've covered the search light with some Tamiya tape, hopefully I'll not have any paint leakage here. 104 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I've also primed the topside. I use Humbrol 140 as primer so that the acrylics from AKAN have something to bite in to. 105 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr This evening I'll tend to the seam at the exhaust and put some primer on the underside as well. And just so you don't think I've forgotten about the Lansen, I've made a new effort to glue the fuselage halves together again. 517 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I just have to remember to put in the exhaust in before I get carried away and glue the rest of the fuselage together. To be continued..... /Bosse
Marlin
Ahoy Vikings. I you skip watching TV one evening you can do magic at the work table instead. The primer on my Norwegian F-16 did show that I wasn't done with the sanding and polishing. The seam at the donut ring on the tail needs to be more blended. 106 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I also had the seam at the nose cone to attend to, more putty. 107 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr But on the topside everything looks great, so on with some paint. The Norwegian F-16's are painted in a single all over colour of FS36270 Neutral Grey. I'm using AKAN acrylics and a sable hair brush. 108 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've done two coats so far, and I'll do at least one more. And when all that was done I did some more work on my Lansen. I must get the exhaust nozzle done so I can glue the fuselage halves together. So first I glued some PE into the exhaust tube. 518 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 519 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The Tarangus plastic has a lot of flash that needs to be cleaned off. 520 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr In with the burner ring. 521 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The I glued the exhaust package to one side of the fuselage. 522 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And when that had set I could continue to glue the fuselage together. 523 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I'll do it in stages, this time the underside of the aft fuselage. 524 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've noticed that Tamiya Extra Thin Quickdry works very well on Tarangus plastic. I'll be continuing to glue the fuselage together this evening, and perhaps also glue the aft cockpit in place. To be continued..... /Bosse

Marlin
Thanks @Vingtor. reini
@Marlin Moving at a quick pace indeed! Less TV is always a good thing for productivity. Tamiya Extra Thing Quick Setting is brilliant glue, it's my go-to glue for most of the things.

Some fuel tanks might have been repaired in Norway and thus (partly) repainted, using FS36270. You can e.g. see some fuel tanks with darker front section than the rest of the tank. The Penguins and adapters are manufactured in Norway, and thus painted FS36270. Best to study photos carefully. 🤓 Nils
Marlin
Thanks Nils. I've been studying all pictures I've found and thought I'd made a mistake on the Penguins and the adapters. /Bosse
PattheCat
Great progress Bosse. TV is bad for the brains ...... and also for modelling it seems. 🤭 Keep it on like that. PS Me, even without TV, it's still just two (finished) builds a year. I'm a lost cause, I know.
