janneman36
Build this one for the Bf109 STGB This machine was based in Friedrichshafen at a certain point in 1940. I love the shape of the Airfix 109 but they should revisit the canopy whit the overly thick frames and moulding imperfections. The overal fit is very good and goes together like a breeze ..I have put in a old extratech cockpitset from the nineties that actually fits this kit with a bit of work.. I also put a Yahu panel in it wich is for the eduard kit. The decals are from HAD set 48149 Hope you like it.. cheers, Jan 49

That scheme looks like it was quite an undertaking and process Well done This was indeed a somewhat lengthy process as it took about 5 hours to get the look I needed on the RLM02 over the splinter camo! 1 hour ago, Terry1954 said: Lovely build and paint scheme. My usual question - which paints did you ise. They look superb. Terry I used MRP paints although these paints do not thinning MRP still advise their slow drying thinner on thinner needles like the fine needle (2,1) I have on my sotar 20/20 . It prevents tip drying that i experienced without it in the past on the smaller needles and it does work in preventing splatter and you simply do spray a finer pattern. The Splinter was done without the retarder . Must say that the paint does match my paintchips from the Monogram German colors book ...I was impressed by the look of the RLM 70/71/65 colors The RLM 02 needs some RLM 71 to look a little darker and greener. I do think that most paint manufacturers make the 02 too grey and bright and this is also matched the paintchip. And to all who responded a big thank you for the positive reactions🙏 cheers, Jan
Nanond
Large wing crosses are very striking. Love the model. Almost make me want to do one in this scheme. Nanond
Spitfire31
Wonderful, slightly different Emil! The pensive pilot figure adds a lot of help for the imagination to reflect over what might lay in wait for him, once the 'start engines' order is given. Sweet work! Spitfire31
One minor point: a blob of dark grey paint on the exhaust sheath front end would indicate that it is, or should be, open. Kind regards, Joachim

The small sheath that's covering the forward end of the exhausts on the Emil has an open front end: In 1/48th, a spot of dark, almost black paint should simulate that opening quite effectively, don't you think? Kind regards, Joachim
janneman36
@Spitfire31 thank you for pointing this out Joachim 👍 and indeed a bit of black paint will solve this easily! cheers, Jan
janneman36
@Spitfire31 drilled them out and dipped some rubber black in it 😉 Though it still needs to dry😁 cheers, Jan
