New Hobbycraft store in Kent.

Just seen in the local press that Hobbycraft will be opening a new store in the Strood Retail Park, near Rochester, Kent on 9 October.  Sadly, the store that they have had in Maidstone for many years suffered greatly from the Covid pandemic, and is now a shadow of its former self, and the last time I was in there had very few model kits.  As Airfix are very close in Margate we can only keep our fingers crossed.    Robin.

From signs in existing stores, they are no longer stocking any Airfix and what stock is already there, they are selling off (not being discounted mind you...!)

 

They do seem to be stocking a lot of Revell & Tamiya, with a few Italeri kits.

They recently opened a store in the outskirts of Leicester - No Airfix but at least they stock Tamiya and Revell paints, tools and a few kits.

They were having issues getting Airfix stock in, I guess the Revell sales reps gave them a better deal.

My nearest proper model shop is 42 miles away. I have a Hobbycraft and Hornby "outlet" / visitor centre a couple of miles away. The Hobbycraft seems to be getting less interested in model making and more in the "arty farty" stuff.

 

Thank heaven for mail order.
