Popular Post CT Modeller
Jetstream T.1 45(Reserve) Sqn, RAF Cranwell, 1990s This is the old Airfix kit with the almost as old M&E conversion, which provided the Astazou engines in short run injection moulded plastic. Needless to say, fitting these involved endless fun with wet n dry and Milliput. The props were Aeroclub white metal. Changing the Airfix fuselage to the RAF version was also a bit of a challenge as it involved filling in the window in the original kit doors, fitting the doors and filling and rescribing the RAF style door. A new window was then drilled into the rescribed door. Fuselage windows were glazed with Humbrol Clear Fix after everything else was finished. There was general messing about with the fuselage (tailcone and antenna plinths mainly) to get the RAF look. The main undercarriage arrangement for the RAF version was also quite different without the inboard doors etc which provided more fun with Milliput. Decals were from Modelart. I was waiting for the new Xtradecal Jetstream sheet for a while but I realised that I needed a full set of stencils which the Modelart sheet provided. I could have, of course, just bought the A Model kit and saved myself a lot of modelling, but why would I when modelling is what its all about? I’m also not sure about the fuselage shape around the windscreen are in the A Model kit – to my eye the Airfix version looks better here. Anyway it’s good to have finished another kit that’s been in the stash for so many years that I can’t begin to guess! With its replacement - King Air (Mach 2 kit) 86

thorfinn
Superb project and a beautiful a/c -- both the prototype and the model! Your hard work yielded a gorgeous result. (I also give kudos to your "what it's all about" philosophy. That's what we're here for.) Cheers

Robin
Excellent piece of modelling, I have the Airfix kit on the bench at the moment, unfortunately, I do not think that this will progress much further. Robin.

NavyWessex
Absolutely stunning job. I attempted the very same kit conversion a few years back and gave up.
binbrook87
That's brilliant! Fantastic results from all your hard work. Looks every part an RAF Jetstream. Well done 👍👍
tonyot
Lovely job,..... great conversion and doesn`t the King Air (another lovely model by the way!) look a bit wet and unmilitary compared to the tough looking Jetstream! Cheers Tony
TheyJammedKenny!
That is really nice, the scheme is spot-on and effect persuasive! This is something for which you should be justly proud. You are correct about the A-Model kits faults, especially in the nose area. Airfix got it right, here.
Bigglesworth
That's a real cracker! And the King Air is lovely too. Thanks for the inspiration.

Head in the clouds.
Great modelling skills on show here, well done for sticking with it, just because it's old and cantankerous doesn't mean it can't be loved....
Britman
Very nice indeed and if I remember correctly Chris Gannon of Pegasus models fame produced the engines for M&E. Keith

John R
A really nice model (as usual) but who in his right mind would spend all that time and effort just to get something that no-one else has? John
