A couple of shitty pictures, sorry..! ;) Still have not dealt with the too thin and much lighter paint on the canopy frame.. Ah well.. I was satisfied with some things on the bird.. But overall I rushed too much and cut too many corners (probably since I wanted to move on to other things and has not "produced" a finished model inaĀ  couple of years.. ::( - but I am more relaxed in my current builds..)

Wanted to move on with the J 34 but I started three (!) other builds so will probably not be able to in time for the GB.. Ah well.. šŸ˜•

Thumbalina...It always feels like a resin kit give me so much satisfaction. Ā I am not sure why. Ā This one was completed during an enormously stressful and emotional house move, from a rental to a house I actually own. Ā My first, if I am honest about it. Ā

Ā

I loved making this little kit, and what a charming aircraft it is! Ā Pretty much OOB, except for some strut pieces that weren't moulded well. Ā Easy-peasy. Ā

Having used all the obvious candidates in Nordic 1, I dug around in my stash and came up with this - the "latest" Airfix Gustav in 1/72 which came with Finnish, German and Italian markings in its first release. It is supposedly a plane from 2/HLeLv 31 in around 1948.

DSC05854-crop DSC05855-crop DSC05856-crop DSC05857-crop

I suspect that the green should have been a bit lighter but it is rather light sensitive. It is a strange kit as Airfix seem to have re-worked the very old G-6 from the 1960's, improving the external detail a bit, but doing nothing with the cockpit. I have added a floor, rear bulkhead, stick and IP, together with the armoured plate behind the pilot's head, and on the outside I have added a pitot tube, aerial under the fuselage and a d/f loop but I doubt it is very accurate.

Ā

It was crude but relatively quick, which is a bonus as I am struggling a bit with my modelling at the moment - I will be glad when the docs finish their tests and workout exactly what is wrong with me and how to treat it. Anyway, thanks to the organisers and good luck to all those still building for this GB.

FOUGA MAGISTER, Finnish Air Force, Pori airfield, mid 1960's

Ā

Kit:Ā Special Hobby Fouga CM.170 Magister (#SH72373)

Scale:Ā 1/72

Paints:Ā Vallejo Model Air, Vallejo Metal Colour

Aftermarket:Ā CMK wheels

Weathering:Ā Tamiya Panel Line Accent Colour

Ā

Nice little kit of a beautiful plane. I'm not happy with the final metallic colour (already repainted once) - but with enough viewing distance it will do. I was too cautious with the application, the shade is not even. I made some touch-ups with a brush but only made it worse. Anyway, happy to call it done. Kit was nice and I was left with a desire to do another one someday. Some caution is needed with the fuselage fit, though - cockpit feels a tad wide to fit inside properly.

Delighted to get this one "Finnished"Ā

Ā

I've never built a CMR kit before but compared with my previous resin Builds being Unicraft and Magna, it was a lot more straightforward without the requirement to excavate the parts from a block of resin.

The subject of the build is really interesting and is only covered by a couple of manufacturers, there is an excellent link on the build thread from @vppelt68Ā of a real aircraft currently being restored in Finland I would encourage you to take a look at.

Ā

Pictures of the finished aircraft below, I hope you like it

Cheers Pat

IMG_20211225_151643010_HDR.jpg?w=1352&ss

Ā

This was a gift from me to my parents today (Christmas Day). They had flown one of these to the Faroe Islands.

Ā

There is no A319 kit in 1/200 (although there's a resin conversion fuselage available) so I did this by cutting two segments out of the fuselage.

Ā

The decals are aftermarket from what seems to be a garage company - they worked fine but were a little too big.

Ā

I also took a lot of shortcuts in order to finish it in time for Christmas. The left side windows are inaccurate (slightly) but I did a better job on the right side.

Ā

So with those caveats - and that this is my first ever conversion like this - I offer you my Atlantic Airways A319 in 1/200.

Spitfire IXe, Danish Air Force
Eduard Profipack 1/48 with Stoppel Hobby decals

Here is my first Spitfire in this GB. The original flew in the late 40s. The camouflage pattern may look a little odd, but (at least some) Danish Spitfires were re-painted in a slightly different scheme compared to the normal DG/OG scheme. Most of the photos of #407 show it with clipped wings, but at the end of its career, these were replaced with normal wingtips.

Now for something at least quite different, a Thulin D in 1/72 scale.

Ā

The Type D was a modified Morane Saulnier parasol, built on license but with a pirate-copied Le Rhone 9C engine. Two of them were donated to Finland during their civil war, and bearing the swastika emblem of their donor gave the forst insignia to the Finnish airforce. My model represents a Swedish machine: the S-mark was a short-lived insignia of the Swedish air forces used until 1915.

Ā

The model is scratchbuilt with a Smallstuffmodels engine, thread:

One last contribution from me: a Myrsky II of 2/TLeLv 12 at Joroinen, flown by Lt Hemmer in 1944.

Ā

Special hobby kit 1/72.

Ā

Unfortunately I do not have the gear doors. Maybe Iā€™ll find them one day, but as far as Iā€™m concerned sheā€™s finished.
