Tornado GR1 wing sweep area colour

Hi all

I'm working on a Revell 1/48 Tornado to make a grey/green camo GR1 with the wings fully forward. Did all such era Tornados have the area which sweeps back into the fuselage painted light grey?

While the vast majority of kits have that area so painted, I'm not sure all aircraft did.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Cheers

Shaun

Yes. It's not paint, but a teflonlike coating to ensure the wings swing in and out smoothly - I'd imagine any enthousiast paint shop laddie who overpaints this area can expect a swift and stern talking to from higher up.

Cheers,

Andre

It is painted on German Tornados and called in German language "Abriebfester Deckanstrich", translated "Abrasion Resistant Paint" in FS 36173. It can be sanded and repainted, the minimum paint thickness has to be 200 to 250μm  I´m shure at all other nations using the Tornado it is done the same way if it has to repaired.
