Yes, it is a great site, and I offer the photo below that I found while trolling just now  through the Baltimore photos; it is captioned as being taken at Bari, Italy in 1945. I see what looks like a B-25, a Baltimore with gust locks on the rudder, and a B-17 that looks like it has had all armament removed. Very curious! Anybody got any ideas? I know the Italians flew Baltimores, but 1945 is a  bit late, I would think, to see one in bare metal and an RAF serial.

The Regia Aeronautica flew Baltimores well into 1946, ultimately as transport and liaison aircraft. Reportedly, some of them had their camouflage removed at the end of the war and flew in natural metal. Maybe the RAF example here served in a similar role?

I am particularly intrigued by the long-range fuel tank seen in this photo:

Seemingly, FA204 has a similar, although possibly less bulky fitment?

Hi

    found this about the tanks

In 1942 Martin designed a huge auxiliary ++ fuel tank which fit underneath the plane, allowing it to fly the South Atlantic from Brazil to West Africa via Ascencion Island. The tank was so large that it hung down within 18 inches of the runway; ferry pilots took care to land gently.
