theplasticsurgeon
Joining you with this Hasegawa F-4E kit, costing me £15 at IPMS Gloucester show in 2018. Instructions, already a step up on the previous 1/72 Phantoms that I've built. Engraved detail parts, another step up. And Israeli decals. Many thanks to @iainpeden for those. @VG 33 built an excellent Revell model of this aircraft for the 2019 Phantom GB 12

Gidge
201 have a fantastic paint job! so hard to find good decals and kits for Israeli Phantoms. On that note, Zoukei-Mura have a form for messaging their development team which they read and write back to. I sent them a message asking them to produce an Israeli Phantom kit. They send a very nice reply basically saying it's something they'd "like to challenge for" but no plans to do one in the near future. A few more people reaching out asking for one may make them consider it more seriously. https://www.zoukeimura.co.jp/en/form/

theplasticsurgeon
Some curiosities with this kit: Square holes above the exhausts for the flare-launchers - but nothing inside. Those holes now filled. A huge square hole in the Stbd nose - no idea what that was for. But there is a part to fill the gap. Four different types of upper fin, with different sensor fits. My books don't show authoritively - so I copied that of @VG 33 model. Anyway some more recent progress. Major components being readied. And now assembled. Looking like a Phantom.
Bertie McBoatface
I had the flare pack holes too but they provided some blanks in my B/N version. (Parts A1 and A2) Not that they were a perfect fit.
theplasticsurgeon
Earlier this week I dropped my laptop, wrecked it - and no means to connect my camera. Posting from an Amazon Fire, with built in camera - let's see the quality. Airframe construction completed, and seams smoothed.
Bertie McBoatface
It's not that bad and certainly better than nothing. Bad luck on the laptop!

Niels JK
Are you building a “Toad” ? one of the “operation nickle grass” aircraft?, if so they where all later block aircraft with slatted wings. if you are building an first batch delivery 1XX series IDFAF F-4E, the correct underside color is 35622 = Humbrol 122. No. Those aircraft are described on my markings instruction sheet, but I've built 3 SEA camo Phantoms previously. This aircraft will be Israeli desert camo, and was shot down by Syrian AAA on 13 Oct 1973. This is how I do canopy interior framing. Very thinly sliced black insulation tape for the edges and sills. Very well pressed down. Then a final wipe, to remove fingerprints - ONLY handle by tweezers from now on. Infill any gaps with black paint, and allow to dry in the afternoon sun. This picture shows a slighly flat profile atop the canopy, something that I noticed on the nose as well. One last look at the interior detail - before I fit the canopy. Now with HUD, and face-curtain handles. Finally canopy fitted. Followed by airbrushing Humbrol 121 sand onto upper surfaces.
Bertie McBoatface
That's a very nicely done cockpit. The insulation tape idea is new to me but I'd never attempt it in 72!
Niels JK
Ok, but Why are you painting the underside 36622?

theplasticsurgeon
Quite a break, but still going. Canopy framed, and decals - joining the Israeli Air Force. Huge thanks to @iainpeden for the decals.
Bertie McBoatface
Did you paint the canopy by hand? If so it's very tidy.
