Hi Alistair

Don’t want to steer the thread off topic but I’ve not come across the colourcoats paints before. Are they any better than the Humbrol or Xtracolor enamels?

This is only my opinion but ColourCoats are far far superior to Humbrol and Xtracolor.

They go down really smoothly, are extremely forgiving and are nigh on bulletproof when dry.

Hope that helps,

Cheers,

Alistair

Many thanks for the reply - might have to give them a go. Thanks again

If you do I would suggest using ColourCoats own thinner.

It's Naptha based and helps to get these enamels touch dry in 5 to 10 minutes.

Alistair

Sorry one last question - do they spray well?

This kit really looks like a gem Alistair though it is no doubt flattered by your skill in putting it together.

Craig.

Thanks Craig,

Not certain about skill everything so far has just fitted beautifully.

Alistair

This was left to dry for a bit and then after I'd given the guns a light dry brush.

Just caught up with this one too.

Nice job Alistair, keep up the great work.

Simon.

Thanks Simon,

This, despite the flaming multitude of tiny bits, is a cracking kit.

Alistair

Beautiful work as ever. Will any of this actually be seen once the model is finished?

Craig.

Thanks Craig,

A lot of it will still be visible. I'm hoping, anyway.

I'm going to pose the canopy open and the hatches for the guns can be posed open as well.

I'm hoping I'll be able to paint them in situ and then pop one out and show it open.

We'll see how it goes.

Alistair

Glad to hear it! it would be a crying shame to hide all that top notch fiddly bittery.

Looking good Alistair,  lots of very fiddly bits going on there.

Great job fella

Chris

Thanks Chris,

There certainly are but without the detail set it would have been much much more.

If I'd used the kit parts there would have been 10 separate pieces per gun rather than 5.

Alistair

Nice fiddly work. Have to say the level of detail in the mouldings on this thing are just exquisite.

Thanks so much,

It really is an exquisite kit but be very glad that you got the detail kit with yours as it has parts in one piece that would take two or three extremely tiny bits to put together and I don't know how I would have cleaned those bits up without breaking them.

The quality of the 3D Resin parts more than makes up for the cost.

Alistair

Not much to report but I thought I'd stick this up before I head out to work.

The rest of the fuselage and bit more detail to the guns.

Just enough of the cannons showing there Alistair.

All looks good from down here.

Good progress there. Finished by the weekend? 😁

Craig.

Thanks Craig,

That's most of the really fiddly stuff done. There's still a bit of photoetch to go on the cannons and of course the breech covers.

The photoetch will go in next but the covers I'm going to leave until the end as they may be quite tight against the hatch covers and I'll need to decide which side is going to be open.

By the weekend... Not happening :rofl:but I'll get as much done as I can between shifts. Sleep is for Tortoises after all. :rofl2:.

Cheers,

Alistair

Photoetch applied and then the wings were fixed on.

This is the first time I've had an issue with the kit and it is probably down to operator.

The cartridge return chute required sanding back a bit to get a fit.

Everything looks to be fitting now but if this is the only issue I've caused here then I'll be fairly chuffed.

Well Alistair, she don`t look to bad from here sir.

Once a coat of the tell tail primer is on hopefully there won`t be much remedial work.

Simon.

Thanks Simon.

You're right only primer will tell. :fingerscrossed:

Alistair
