Des
Popped up the coast to Gourdon in Aberdeenshire this morning to collect an order of Special Hot Smoked Salmon from Stephens the Fish Merchant there (kept in a rum and brown sugar marinade before smoking . . . . . amazing !!) and took some photos of the harbour at low tide which in effect today was no tide. Like most of the east coast fishing villages still hanging on with a few boats carrying on some inshore fishing and crab/lobster potting as well as being home to some leisure craft.
Vince1159
What lovely photo's the harbour reminds me of what St Sampsons harbour used to be like before the states decided to turn it into a marina...

Remember that from a visit in the early 1990's quite a contrast back then with the Marina at St. Peter Port.
Vince1159
Yep,they ruined the harbours in St Peter Port by trying to attract visitors and then managed to ruin St Sampsons by charging local boat owners to moore in a marina that should've stayed a harbour...
dogsbody
As a natural-born Nova Scotian, who grew up at the upper end of The Bay of Fundy, I've seen lots of views of various small harbours have left boats on the bottom after the tide has gone out. Fundy Bay has some of the highest tides in the world. Chris

Never managed across myself but I have an uncle and aunt who moved to Campbellton NB in the 1960s and have spoken of visiting the area and the tides.
