DOD
Hi All Welcome to my second update project. Two Revell Babylon 5 Starfury kits finally completed having lain half built, for a number of reasons, for many years until finally deciding to finish them off. I had chosen two of the more distinctive ‘clean’ schemes. A black Omega of the Psi Corps and a Presidential Escort. One was from the original box and the other from later ‘collector’s’ edition which showed you how to correct all the badly fitting bits with the kit! I had already made a more ‘regular’ Stafury with the 1/48 Foundation Models resin kit way back as Commander Sinclair’s. Both were done in parallel and had been made OOB with only the guns being replaced with brass tube. Black Omega made it to the finish line first. All fine until decal application. They did not go on or adhere well and ended up with some silvering though it is not too bad. Based on that I decided to paint all the markings on the Presidential Escort apart from the Presidential seal and Earth Force decals which I think was worth it in the end. Overall quite happy with the end results These two made suitable companions for the 1/48 Foundation Models resin model. This is a bit of a brute at some 30cm wingspan and nearly 1.2 Kg of resin! Unfortunately the canopy has discoloured a bit with time. I got this in 1997 and made at the time. It prompted me to look into the company now but I can find no trace of them on the internet. I do not even know how many were made. Can anybody shed any further light on this model? Cheers David Foundation Models All together!
saturnapollo
Terrific paint job on all three. Interesting to see the difference in detail between the different kits. Keith
Pete in Lincs
I only dipped into the programme occasionally so I'm far from an expert of the Starfury. But they do look good to me anyway. I've seen the odd one on the bay going for silly prices. They could be worth a reissue.
Bertie McBoatface
Very striking. Well done.
Army_Air_Force
A lovely set of Starfuries. Here's my Revell version, with a scheme based on a 5th Emergency Rescue Squadron P-47 scheme I had on a radio controlled P-47 many years ago. The pics use my own astronomy photos as backdrops.
Misrule
Great work, the presidential escort is particularly nifty. They really need to bring those kits out again, whole thing needs a revival Starfuries were always cool with how they tried to stick to physics in space combat, though their replacement the Thunderbolt was always something I wanted to see in a (cheap) kit! Anyone remember the gunned up Fury with the rear turret? Only showed up once or twice in small scenes I think but looked the business.
DOD
Belated thanks to all for your comments. @Army_Air_Force lovely scheme, finish and photos! Personally I never really took to the Thunderbolt but I see there are some models available now on a certain auction site. The Starfury - original and best! I take it no one has any information on Foundation Models? Cheers.
