Hunter Rose
Bought this guy on a whim and for a crazy cheap price, it was described as a 120mm figure but when I measured him he's actually about 150mm which is pretty much 1/12 scale so I was pretty pleased with that. I'm a massive fan of The Mandolorian and really wanted a figure or a statue of the main guy, but they are crazy money and then saw this and got really excited and couldn't buy it quick enough! I've had him sitting on the bench for a little while but have decided to crack on with him and add him to my list of models to get done IMG_20210430_104105~2 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So I gave him a rub down with some IPA and a light sand here and there and got him primed. IMG_20210707_190427253 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210707_190433134 by Nick Frost, on Flickr This is the version where he has the beskar steel shoulder armour but before he gets the full suit, so me being more of an airbrusher than a hairy sticks man, I decided to give him a coat of alclad duraluminium to get a good metalic finish to work around as a base. So I rattle canned a gloss black base and then hit him with the alclad. IMG_20210713_145758540_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210728_192414165_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210728_192423600 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then just as a start point I painted on his under clothes colour to block in the metal parts just to see how it looks and to get a base colour right in to all the parts that will be difficult to get to once I start adding all the different colours and details. IMG_20210811_193529161_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210811_193534543_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210811_193549628_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr So thats where I am with him, just a small start but I'm pleased to get cracking with him, I dont often end up doing kits that are more brush work than airbrush but always enjoy it when I do as I find it very relaxing Next up I'll start to get all the base colours onto all the bits of armour and details working inside out. Thanks for looking, more soon
rockpopandchips
Nice start on a great looking figure. I would be tempted to keep is the paint work fairly simple as he has a more cartoon look to him. Have you seen the Bandai Razor Crest and 1/12 version of Mando?

Yeah that's a good shout, it is a bit cartoony proportions especially the rifle. I will make him a bit dusty and grimy here and there but not too crazy. Just looked them up now, the razor crest looks really cool but Im not always a fan of Bandai figures, I think the ones that have soft material bits sometimes end up looking like they need a lot of work to lose the "toy" look. 2 hours ago, Dr. Quack said: Kandosii, ner vod! Hunter Rose
Actually had a ton of shed time with this guy over the weekend so have managed to do quite a bit. I'm still just getting the main colours in place at this stage, so I started by doing the padded layers under his armour before getting the red brown bits of armour painted. IMG_20210813_193929467_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210813_193942650 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210813_195214282_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210813_195223896_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210813_200127398_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210813_200154071_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then I mixed up a brown with more enamel paint and did all the leather bits, and I also painted the tan bit of hip armour IMG_20210814_192815582_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210814_193655807_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210814_193705825_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr After that before doing anything else I couldn't resist getting the black bit of visor painted, at some point this will be given a gloss coat IMG_20210814_194400346 by Nick Frost, on Flickr At this point I wasn't happy with his main soft clothing under layer colour, I thought it was a bit dark and leaning more towards blue than Iliked so I redid that and gave him another coat, first two pics show the difference. IMG_20210815_150728011 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210815_151857410 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210815_153305080_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr I moved down to his feet and painted them dark brown and his right lower leg bit of armour the same colour IMG_20210815_153320581_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then I got the bluey bits painted, thats the left knee bit and hip armour IMG_20210815_155554080_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210815_155559742_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210815_155606809_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr I then went back up to the hands and layed down a dark brown base colour IMG_20210815_160227646_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210815_160237227_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr Wasn't happy with the lower bit of soft padding under his abdomen armour, gave it a more muted looking colour, thought it looked a bit too bright and the shade was a bit off IMG_20210815_161013305_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr I got the gray panels on the back of his hand painted next IMG_20210815_191927746 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210815_191933542 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Aaand the last thing I got done yesterday was to do the fingers of his gloves, now I've painted them I think maybe they are a bit too yellow, so with the next coat I'll add a touch of orange and brown. IMG_20210815_192912312 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So thats where I'm at, so next up like I said I'll give the fingers another going over and then mask off and paint the blue triangles on the gray hand armour and then I can start getting the main colours on the guns too. Would definitely recommend watching it, it's an easy watch and pretty decent, he's a great character. It's just nice seeing something based in the star wars universe that's a bit gritty and not revolving around jedi kung fu
Will Vale
I like the model and your paint job, the bright shiny metal will give lovely contrast against the grime to come. I really thought the TV series was a bit disappointing, though hard to put my finger on exactly why. But the music is cool Will

Yeah I think the only major gripe would be some of the episodes feeling like just filler. Especially the one where its basically a take on the magnificent 7 heavily condensed down making the rushed plot feel a little ridiculous. Although I think of your watching back to back episodes it's not so much of an issue. I am really looking forward to season 3, I'm on the fence about book of boba fett, hope it doesn't end up being mandalorian by another name. Thanks Brian! Yeah that artwork is really nice, I would gladly buy a book of all the credit artwork, would kill to see an animated series in that style! Been working more on Mando, sorted out the finger colour, which I think looks much better now and I mixed up some black with a touch of silver to do his blaster IMG_20210818_134656013_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr And I made a start on the rifle too, got the wooden butt painted brown and went with a brown black colour with a touch of silver to give it an old west iron look IMG_20210818_134709325_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210818_140850270 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Did the gold bits for the scope support IMG_20210818_141740608 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And while I had the gold out (original formula humbrol 91, cant beat it for sheen with a brush!) I gave the end of the rifle a dry brush for a heat discolouration effect, and also added a touch of gold to the side of his blaster as there is a teeny bit on the actual one when I checked it out. IMG_20210818_141844361_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210818_141926406_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr So that is all the basic colours on there and done, on,y minor things I did at this point was using the same brown I'd mixed up for the rifle butt I did some subtle dry brushing on the leather parts and added the reddish leather bit to the pouch strap on his left leg IMG_20210818_142732499_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210818_142749612_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210818_142800678_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr So then it was on to some details, I masked out a couple of triangles to paint the blue ones he has on the topside of his palms IMG_20210818_191941721_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210818_191950391_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr Only other thing I did on this session was to start fleshing out the colour of his armour. I mixed a touch of black into the red brown colour and painted around the details and edges to help give a little depth at this stage, its quite subtle in the photos IMG_20210818_193846723_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20210818_193927105_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr Oh and only other thing I forgot to mention which you may have noticed is I gave his visor another coat of black to darken it further. So next up I'm going to carry on adding shading here and there, then it will be the highlights and chips and dings. Hunter Rose
Little update, got into the shed and did a bit more with him yesterday. Just been dry brushing here and there, got more to do still, I dry brushed the butt of the gun but still need to add some metallic highlights to its main bits. IMG_20210822_192700924_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr And I did some chipping too to his armour, gloss coated his visor, and also did some pigment work on the soft under armour bits of his abdomen and to add shadow between his fingers. IMG_20210822_194658745_HDR by Nick Frost, on Flickr So thats where Im at and there not a whole lot left to do, just need to give the rifle a metallic dry brush and add the heavy metallic chipping to his armour and that will pretty much be it. With any luck the next update will be him in the RFI! Thanks for looking, more soon

Hunter Rose
Okay so as I said hes all done! I did the chipping using a sponge and some meatllic enamel paint, and then went over the edges again with the base colours to feather it in and tone it down a little, then went around all the details with a dark brown to add some simple shadow. IMG_20210825_192741224_HDR~2 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Could not be happier with how that went! Heres a link to the RFI:- Thank you for all the interest and comments, I'll be moving back onto the STAP now and looking to get that sorted ASAP
