Piotr Mikolajski
I have no idea why the article on Modelarovo, mentioned earlier, did not show the canopy at all. Here's the one from the old sets, so if you think it's poor, check before you buy to see if it's been improved. Photos from IPMS Deutschland. Am I right in thinking that the initial Ibs as used by No. 19 Sqn had a visibly different arrangement for the cannon fit to the later ones? The KP Spitfire Ib was released before the Vb, you're right about the cannon fitting being different, the sprue had a different set of bulges for the Ib and later cannon fits Sorry for the OT Cheers, Stew
k5054nz
This may be naive, but has anyone tried contacting KP for answers to these questions? Or does that perhaps delve into the realms of commercial sensitivity?

Between this and the typical Eduard 1/72 Spitfire kit, I predict many hours of harmless fun for Spitfire addicts. Probably good they are making model kits and not printing maps.
TheKinksFan
There are some photographs of that 52nd Fighter Group, 5th Squadron VF-R in a book called "52nd Fighter Group, Spitfires and Yellow Tailed Mustangs. The serial number is EF749, but it's partially covered by the squadron letters on both sides. There's also white R letter on the nose, underneath the spinner, which is quite strange. Merlin
Hi, As Piotr notes, there are no photos of the canopy anywhere, most odd and suspicious perhaps as reviews always show canopy, essential and key focal point. I then find this :- https://www.keymodelworld.com/article/kp-172-supermarine-spitfire-mkiia-lr-raf which says beware bit warped. So what is the canopy like on the Mk 1 kits mentioned ? Has anyone bought one and has anyone the ability to take a decent photo ? What are the optics quality like and what is the structure and shape like ? Is it also a Mk1 fwd framework as such changed from the Mk V onwards. Just how does this compare to the Tamiya Mk 1 or the Airfix Mk 1 with its trenchlines (by comparison to Tamiya) and canopy I couldnt get to fit in. Thanks Merlin.
