Tim's Revell Atlantic - COMPLETED

Recommended Posts

Finally joining you with this kit.  Cost me £15 from Wonderland in 2003.

As I've never been to Edinburgh in my life, this must have been an SMW bargain.

Bags of parts.

Containing the biggest pile of plastic that I've ever seen.

Decals and instructions.

A Bundesmarine Atlantic that I photoed at Fairford.

And a French Aeronavale example.

And at Fairford 2004

Quick assembly of the rear fuselage.

Lots of tape and the clamps holding it together.

And he's off already!  Good start Tim!  You don't hang about do you?

Welcome to the GB and good luck with it.  I had one of these but I sold it on, I'm interested to see what could have been.

Great start Tim.

I'm to eager to see how this build since I also have the same kit in the stash.

can't build it right now due to lack of display area.

And @RidgeRunner - If you want an Italian bird I hope you've seen that Revell has just re-issued it in Italian livery

A study in extremely poor taste.

I hereby renounce my Italian heritage.

That’s certainly, er, startling!

One minor gripe though. I think they might have provided at least one other option on the decal sheet in the form of a standard colour scheme.

I’m with you on that!

G'day Tim,

This is a great reference build by Severesky demonstrating what hard work and great modelling skills can produce, you may find it inspiring (or intimidating!)

cheers,

Pappy

Secretly regretting starting this one Pat.

Still quite a bit of time left.

I know just how you feel mate, when I was looking at the sea of parts for my recent Airfix Stirling.

Just come back to it when you are in the mood.

Cheers Pat

I've just done some work on the cockpit.  Photos later today.

I'm thinking this will be a sealed-up, in flight built.  Gear retracted, pilots in the cockpit, and disks for props.

I retired yesterday, so really have no more excuses to not progress.

Well there goes your spare time!  Since retiring I can’t believe how much I found to do, leaves very little time for actually being retired 😄

Do you find it isn't you who fills your day?

Celebrated my retirement with a bottle of this.

Now for some modelling.

Walkaround photos show the cockpit interior as grey, slightly lighter than mine.

A noticeable feature that the steering handles are white - so leaving them unpainted.

Parts show two levels, upper where the pilots sit, then steps down to a lower level for the front observer.

A final view of the cockpit bits before I start assembling the forward fuselage.

Crew figures are modified WW2 figures, from my spares.

Curiously with this kit, the glazing is in two parts, resulting in a vertical join down the centre of the middle panel.

Let's see how that goes.
