Howdy Everyone,

Thought I`d post a few photo`s of my latest effort

V085aW1.jpg

Tamiya`s 1/48 FB VI kit, masquerading as a Canadian built FB 26

L8rmdfC.jpg

Built straight from the box contents ( though I realise there were probably a few differences ) apart from the decals...........

agy1BDi.jpg

...which came from Iliad Design `Canadian Built Mosquitos` sheet

Apparently China purchased 190 of these to fight in the civil war but this one was kept in Canada for training purposes.....

...... and carried the CNAC markings instead of the usual RoCAF ones

Hope you enjoy the pic`s, thanks for looking

 Very nice! Great decals

Where did you find the info on this build?? Love different "stuff".

 Paul

Thanks Paul, the info` came off the instruction leaflet of the decals. I didn`t even know the RoCAF used Mosquitos. The ones actually used in China seem to be painted Olive Drab all over with the blue and white sun markings. I`ve a little RoCAF theme going so when I came across the Illiad sheet I thought it would be interesting to add.

Great model . The choice of markings really sets the build apart. I don't think I've ever seen those Chinese marking before.

Very nice! I’m assuming this is Taiwanese rather than China?

Thanks, At the time China was in civil war with the Republic of China v the Communists, so it`s Republic of China. The Markings are different to the normal blue and white sun because the aircraft was based in Canada and couldn`t be flown in a foreign air forces markings. After the civil war when the RoC lost the republic moved to Taiwan.

Really nice Russ!! The camo scheme really agrees with the lines of the Mosquito.  By the way. There was a nice Air Enthusiast article written 25 years ago that documented Canadian efforts to train the Chinese pilots on the Mosquito.

That's a cracker of a build and paint job. I guess I'm not alone in never having heard of Mossies being involved in the civil war in China, every day's a school day.

Great model Russ of an unusual livery. Well done!

Just one observation if I may - somehow it looks like the tan colour does not have any variation in comparison to green. As if the two received different kind of treatment. Might be just the photos though.

Again, great model.

Best,

Nikola
