Halt and Catch Fire (1/72 Brengun Typhoon Ib)

I considered it, but the doors aren't flat on the interior side, and they have a lot of rivet detail (in fact, they're probably the most consistently-detailed parts in the kit), so it would be pretty clear that that one was a ringer.

If all else fails, could you build one with the wheels up and do as Dennis suggests?

Craig.

I tend to agree, but don't let @CedB hear you say that!

If you have one you simply need to use it as a buck to make castings.

I thought of that but then I looked at both my Airfix and my CMR Typhoons, and said doors appear to be handed, i.e. L and R.

I'd happily make some castings from mine, but I fear they will not be up to the Brengun example? Just say if you'd like a couple done though Edward?

I believe Perdu means looting one of my other kits (the doors are indeed handed), but regardless, I'm far too lazy to do such a thing.

I amended my own post after your reply came in (see above). There is a less lazy Brit here happy to cast you a couple. Imagine that, two minute resin Typhoon doors travelling the width of the Atlantic, plus the whole of Lake Michigan to help a US cousin!

Swoon! It's only to be expected that a man with the energy to father seven children, let alone raise them, would have more go-to-it-ness than me. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to repay you!

Tonight I got to do my absolute favourite part of modelling: masking for camo (using an AML Typhoon camo mask, because I'm profoundly lazy), painting, and then tearing off the masking, my trembling fingers a-quiver with anticipation.

Masks applied.

And then...presto! Something like an aeroplane begins to emerge.

Bloody marvellous. Today has gone entirely too well for me, and I'm anxiously waiting for the other shoe to drop. Nobody can have  a run of good luck that lasts forever.

That is indeed rather special. In fact one of the best "reveal" shots I've yet to see.

Well done young man. (I can say that on account of my many years, relative to yours)

I had not realised you are Unca Terry, good of you to keep a watchful eye on the lad o'er the seas. (does that make him Bonnie Prince Edward, me wonders?)

The little big Tiffie is thundering along the grass strip Edward and soon be hauling back the stick and roaring across the Channel to render the Wehrmacht helpless.

Very nice work PC

( Not minding if I am casting aspersions wide to the wind have you searched under the Prime Minister's bed for that u/c door?)

;)

Colourcoats RAF Yellow sprayed beautifully, as I knew it would.

Tomorrow I reckon I'll mask for the fuselage stripes.

We also picked up a visitor, who forced his way into my attic, doing several thousand dollars of damage in wrecked insulation, mercifully covered by insurance.

After animal control picked him up, they replaced the trap,  and I went out to check it this evening, and lo and behold!

I was insanely worried it would catch Grant, since he's the exact right size and it's baited with a yogurt cup, which he loves. Ultimately, we had to ban him from the backyard to prevent such an eventuality from coming to pass.

Well, that was an enjoyable catch up over breakfast. Great build and story telling, PC.

Hopefully your attic will be repaired and the critters will stop coming.

Perhaps you should sit up on guard overnight? Shame the boys aren't old enough to do it for you.

Your build woes make me glad I never bought this kit!

Indigenous wild life and Winston, living in the US is a scary prospect.

The animals look as if they would be possums if you went to a new world and had to allocate names to the things that live there (the ones without bows and arrows)

So what are they?

I know what Winnie is...

(ducks and frantically seeks cover...)

Yes I do he is a little boy of a friend of ours/mine.

Looks like the colourcoats yellow went on over the grey/green superbly. How many coats I wonder?

As for those creatures, at first I thought some sort of giant rat, but the face isn't right for that?

'"Matilda Briggs was not the name of a young woman, Watson,” said Holmes in a reminiscent voice. “It was a ship which is associated with the giant rat of Sumatra, a story for which the world is not yet prepared."'

-- Arthur Conan Doyle, "The Sussex Vampire"

But no, it's a possum.

I'm not sure. I thinned it pretty well, and sprayed very fine coats alternately on each wing.

Possum?  Surely it’s an Opossum.  Possums are Australian (and introduced into New Zealand) and not so evil looking!

AW

Formally yes, but I've never heard or seen anyone in the USA call one an opossum.
