ivan-o Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Hi guys, In a general mortar platoon what are the wagon call signs? I have a 432 with the AA conversion in the planning stage. cheers Ivan
Kingsman Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 (edited) Most recently AFAIK mortar detachments would have been 51D, E, F, 52D, E, F, 53D, E, F. But going back to the 90s I don't recall callsign indicators going beyond 44E. Now I wish I'd kept some callsign indicator matrices......... Edited August 2, 2021 by Das Abteilung correction
ivan-o Posted August 1, 2021 Author Posted August 1, 2021 Spot on thanks👍 got a bit of a choice then😀
Kingsman Posted August 3, 2021 Posted August 3, 2021 (edited) Thinking back further to the days when callsign indicators were only in the range 10 - 44D - certainly the Bowman/BATCO era - I believe this would have been the likely callsign indicator matrix. It seems that mortar sections only had 2 mortar vehicles then, Charlie and Delta, with Bravo being the section commander's vehicle and Alpha being the section commander himself. ivan-o Posted August 3, 2021 Author Posted August 3, 2021 Thanks for that Das, It’s going to be a Mk3 vehicle as I have the SSM update so plain green with a choice of C/S it seems🤔
Kingsman Posted August 3, 2021 Posted August 3, 2021 PIctures of mortar vehicles with 3-digit callsigns are surprisingly rare. Just C or D in the shape is more often seen. That being said, these guys at Paderborn have 11 and 12 callsigns, 11C and 12D. Here's a 51C 1
