Good choice of subject - I hope Dora sells tons of them! There hasn't been an early P-47 in 1/72 since the old Lindberg one, and judging from the number of times I've seen people asking about converting late P-47D kits to P-47B/Cs, it should be popular. Dang - it even looks good to me...

1/48. Later -1/72.

B, C and early D series.

This is great news. I was just looking in to converting the Tamiya kit to a B, but now I don't need to 😀

Looking very good so far, though one thing I've noticed is you've got a Hamilton Standard prop governor on the engine so it's the incorrect type for the Curtiss Electric propeller. Below is some pictures of the type used for the CE prop. It's simpler to model as you don't need the PE wheel 😉

Also you seem to have an extension on the waste gate exhausts which I've only ever seen on warbirds.

Another small point is the tail wheel arm seems to be too short and while the tail wheel can caster, you show the arm coming down on the right side of the wheel, whereas it's should be on the left side when the wheel is pointing forwards.

Here's a P-47B showing the tail wheel.

Here's a P-47C from a very similar angle to the CAD showing the tail wheel.

Is there any plans to do a P-47B with fabric control surfaces and earlier style fin and rudder?

I just want to mention a few points about the canopy that don't look quite right to me, though with lines on a small image it's hard to tell sometimes, but I though I would just point them out so maybe they can be looked at just in case there is anything wrong there.

Item 1 in my image below show how the top of the rear glazing appears approximately parallel with the taper on the spine an comes up slightly above the level of the rear glazing on the sliding part of the canopy. In the CAD render it's noticeable lower.

Item 2 shows forward frame of the rear glazing is narrower than it appears in the CAD.

Item 3 shows the aft corner radius of the glazing on the canopy, the CAD render seems to show a slightly bigger radius, like it should extend back just a small amount further.

Also the bottom render seems to show the back edge of the rear glazing leaning forward more than it should, but it might just be the angle of the image.

This is good news, I have been working on a conversion of the Tamiya 1/72 kit to an early D.   The main differences are the cowl flaps and the flat keel.  No wing pylons, either.   The 348th Fighter Group on New Guinea flew D-2, 3, 4, 5 in 1943 and early 1944.

Also, it would be great if they gave us the Australian (Ford) "Brisbane" tank which was used by 5th Air Force Thunderbolts.  Photo below shows a D-2-RE

Don't miss the lack of oil cooler outlet deflectors, although many aircraft were retrofitted with them, unless photos of the airframe I'm doing show them, I'll remove them.

I can't seem to find a picture of a P-47B with the extra rear window and the later style, metal skinned rudder as modelled here, so I'm wondering if there was ever such a thing. Some later B's got retrofitted with the metal skinned control surfaces but did these early ones?

I am very excited about this kit. I am in the middle of a P-43 build that is going slowly. The kit is marvelous but I would have a few suggestions.  I would ask that the engine be as basic as possible. The thin rods broke very easily. Secondly I would appreciate a better connection point for the instrument panel—mine broke off during construction and it took two hours to reinstall. Thank you.

I thought we already had a thread for this here -

If we are going to have a separate thread for the C, maybe rename that other one or it could get confusing.

Anyway the renders look great.
