Harrier GR1

Recommended Posts

Kinetic's 1/48th scale Harrier Gr1.

A lovely kit with the option of making a GR1 or GR3.

No real dramas encountered during the build.

A great selection of decals, though I used a set from Model Alliance to depict a GR1 of number 4 Squadron based in Germany in the early seventies.

Painted with Mr Color acrylics.

The pilot is a figure from Airwaves.

so maybe a coat of gloss varnish ?

I was aware that she should have a gloss finish, but it's a personal thing, I don't like the look of a gloss finish on a small model, for me it doesn't look right.

Thanks for all the comments & compliments, greatly appreciated.

The gloss finish argument is a difficult one. Yes the real aircraft does show this but I agree with you that too much gloss on a scale model doesn't always look right. I cant put my finger on it... scale effect I suppose. I think your Harrier looks great as it is 👍

It is a difficult situation.

But for me, it just makes it look like a toy.

I can always argue that my model shows it later on in service when the gloss finish has worn away, like RN Phantoms! 😃
