Tempest II differences between series 1 & 2

Following on from the post below regarding the Tempest V what are the differences between the Tempest II series 1 & 2 as proposed by Eduard. The SH kit is just issued as a Tempest II not series specific. Is this just a marketing gimmick by Eduard so that I have to by two kits to complete the collection, not that I really mind.

as the other post states, the differences are due to partly the use of Typhoon airframes and other factors,  by the time of the Tempest II these had been 'ironed out' so there is no series 1 or 2 Tempest AFAIK.

@Chris Thomas would be the chap for any Tempest II differences,  I'm not aware of any, but it's not something I have looked into.

Later Tempest II's had the (tropical?) filter grille on the upper cowling. I think this is represented in the kit as a drop in part. I'm likewise not aware of the 'Series 1/2' nomenclature being applied to Tempest II's.

From the references I have there is no mention of a 'series' for the MkII only a reference to early and late production models.

Apparently the early models did not have the air filter intakes above the  engine cowling and later examples had the pitot tube head moved from underneath the port wing to the port wing tip. Also the first batch built by Hawkers and those built by Bristol were built as fighters whilst the rest were built as fighter bombers with a strengthened wing, with most of fighter versions being retrospectively upgraded to FB's at some point.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Colin.

Looking again at the Eduard release literature they now say early version rather than series 1 so that clears that up.

Thanks; I found that comment by Eduard confusing as well.

(Mind you, I find most things confusing these days!)
