DrumBum
Hi all, I am wrapping up the build of a Revell FGR2 and thought the canopies were complete however after removing the masks I noticed what appears to be a small amount of overspray or possibly mask glue left on the canopy. I prepared a test clear part, my one and only, also dipped in future and have tested out alcohol on a cotton swab but it damaged the future. Is there anything else that would gently clean up this canopy without damaging the future? I was thinking maybe enamel thinner? cheers in advance, Paul
Mark Harmsworth
I use a toothpick / cocktail stick to gently rub at the paint. I use acrylics and that method works fine. I don't really know if that would remove enamel paint though. Mark
bentwaters81tfw
In a worst case scenario, you may need to strip the future and sand off the paint, polish with Micromesh and re dip. I understand Acetone will strip Future.
Alex Gordon
I don't think acetone will do the plastic any favours.Mr Muscle oven cleaner will strip off the paint and the future with no ill effects to the plastic.
ckw
White spirit should work if applied very lightly - damp, not wet. It shouldn't remove the future but might soften it, so don't rub too hard. Test on scrap first! If you can remove that canopy without damaging the model, a complete strip (I use ammonia for future - and as the enamel is on the future, it should come off too) is probably the safest option.
