Pistol Shots Ring Out In A Bar Room Night - Arma Hobby Hurricane Mk.IIb.

Recommended Posts

Now this has been simmering around the top of the to-do list for quite some time.

It's an Arma Hurricane so what's not to like.

On with the pics.

This is the version I'll be attempting. Mainly because I think that Colourcoats Azure Blue is quite the most beautiful colour they'v ever produced.

You must be making a dent in the stash by now Alistair.

Looking forward to watching this one develop.

Trying to but I keep seeing stuff that goes "Go on buy me"

Nice kit Alistair, I have cut the bits from the sprue of the Airfix Mk1 Tropical in 48th scale in the same sort of scheme. I bought it with my Birthday money.

Chris

Do you have a WIP on that one?

Always excited for a Hurricane! Bet this one will go fast and look great!

Not too sure about the fast but I'll give it a go.

Hi Alistair,  I was just thinking of adding to my FAA thread as a distraction build, but could do one I suppose,  that way I could add a Spitfire too!!!

Great choice, Alistair! Really Looking forward to seeing your progress on this - anyone can be quicker than me, but they're fabulous kits!

I think you've got the right idea with the expert set - I've used the Eduard sets on mine and frankly the moulded details are so good they don't need it (IMHO). I won't bother in future.

The Mk.II kit's cockpit assembly is better designed than the Mk.I, amazing detail.

Enjoy!

Hi Mark,

I built the Mk1 a couple of years ago and was very impressed with the kit.

Watching this one.

I like the Dylan lyric in the title.

Chris

Glad to have you on board Chris,

I knew the title wasn't that subtle but it took a wee while for someone to mention it.

There's lots more where that came from. 😉

Nice start, Alistair, and the ColourCoats interior grey-green looks the ticket.

Now I don't want to rain on your parade, but.....I think I'm right in saying (and @Troy Smith will confirm/correct, I'm sure) that Hurricane interiors were painted aluminium except for the seat frame/armour/headrest and cockpit sidewalls above the diagonal frame bar, which were grey-green.

:sorry:

Hat, coat, exit stage left.

No worries Mark,

I just went with the colour call outs on the destructions. More fool me.

Nothing a quick spray can't solve.

Thanks, Alistair:phew: I know I've got a blooming cheek considering my Arma Hurricanes will soon be celebrating their first birthday since being started.....

@CedB did a brilliant build thread last year which is my go-to.

I read the thread at the time but will need to refresh my memory.

Note to self don't trust the destructions.

Excellent stuff great job Alistair.

Thanks Chris,

AK's Xtreme Metals are really easy to spray. No thinning required just point and shoot.

Only joking, mate :D

It's always good to know what materials give good results! I've been using Vallejo acrylics, which seem to work quite well for me, but look more like aluminium paint/dope. I've heard good things of AK's metallics and I've got some NMF schemes on the horizon.....

Mark
