heloman1
I'm hopefully entering this build into the Less than a Tenner GB, elsewhere. Anyway, the kit dates from the early 1970's and the level of detail is to be polite, soft! Lots of oversized rivets, which will need to be removed. Then the fuselage/tailboom strengthening strakes are oversized. Before I left the UK back in 1980, I didn't have a lot of space in our moving package. So, I chopped parts off the sprue on a lot of the kits I brought to SA. Yesterday, I found the bag with three Scouts all separated from the sprue. Grimm looking decals and only one instruction sheet (bag closure). So, here are the parts, the bag top and decals. The main decals are all but unusable, so I have found replacements from my decal stash. X-tra Decal etc. More soon... Colin
heloman1
After some work yesterday, removing the overscale strakes on the rear fuselage and tail-boom, replacing then with .4mm stretched sprue. This is where I am today. Enjoy... Colin

perdu
Guess who is lurking quietly? Can you? Mmm me. Very lovely straking. Fancy finding three free Scouts hiding in the loft, it's just a delight. I love this kit.

Hope A Model are listening! Colin 20 minutes ago, abat said: Happy to watch this unfold. A real little gem in the making. Andrew Hi Andrew, thanks, we need a new Scout kit!!! perdu
It seems to be a potential project too far, producing an updated, more accurate engined Scout/Wasp. It was despair at never being able to buy one of the 'New Scout/Wasp kits coming along' that prompted me to upgrade Airfix's Scout kit into the Scout I gave to the Army Aviation SIG and the Wasp on a beermat model I made for a local club competition. I love that old kit!

Bertie McBoatface
I remember this from 1966 when it came in a plastic bag. Same artwork though. I wonder if your build now will be as good as mine was back then... Haha Edited July 22, 2021 by Bertie Psmith

Bertie McBoatface
Blimey, now I look closer I see that it IS the plastic bag issue! Edited July 22, 2021 by Bertie Psmith
Brandy
This looks like fun, I'll join Bill and t'others at the bar! I too built one as a kid but even my slightly age-warped memory doesn't seem to think it was much good! Ian
