Churchill's Taxi - AZ 1/72 Fieseler Fi 156C "Storch"

Recommended Posts

Hi There,

This one wasn't even planned in the queue.

There was a question in another thread about Storch kits which I chipped in to.

I got the kit out took some photos and suddenly the build was on.

I certainly wasn't planning a WIP but I was talked into that as well.

WIP Here

Primed with Tamiya Flat White.

Painted with Colourcoats FAA/RAF Yellow, Dark Earth, Dark Green, RLM 02, Tamiya Dark Iron, Rubber Black.

Finished with Windsor & Newton Matt Varnish.

Another enjoyable build and considering the age of the moulding it went together like a dream.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Thanks Chris,

The Felixstowe just ain't happening.

Mainly because I don't have one but also because I'm terrified of rigging.

Great idea, Chris (I haven't got one, either!) but a Porte Boat in dazzle markings: fantastic!

Nope that's just not happening.

Despite the red latex cat suit I'm not that much of a masochist:wicked:

Excellent,  I like it, I have the blue and white scheme boxing.

The rigging will be a challenge but is not too bad once you get going and breaking into several sessions.

Be excited to see this one.

Chris

It'll be a wee while but not too long.

I might as well stretch myself a bit more.

Cheers,

Alistair

Lovely job mate,..... looks superb in the colours of Harry Broadhursts personal run about,..... I think he captured it in N.Africa? A great stablemate for your Lizzie.

Great looking "Stork" (I believe that's the translation, at any rate).

You've done an excellent job!

There must be a story behind Winston using this for his personal transport.

There will be a full story somewhere and there was a discussion thread on here as well many years ago.

Alistair

Let me start by saying that's a really nice build and beautiful paint job.  But allow me a quibble, as I recently built (and posted) one of these.  Photos of Harry Broadhurst's Storch (Churchill's Taxi) show the greenhouse was the variant with the raised rear and round gun mount replaced by a flat clear panel.  I modified the kit part by drilling out the perspex bubble and substituting a flat panel of clear acrylic.

Thanks and yes you are right.

I noticed that I'd used the wrong top piece after everything had been glued to the fuselage and decided to just ignore it as the alternative was too much to contemplate.

Well done on a top job - the Academy Storch has the rare distinction of being one of the few models I hurled against the wall and binned! I can't imagine the AZ model is any easier!

TT

Thanks very much.

I have to be fair to the kit and say it went together really well.

As for the undercarriage I think I had stared at the instructions for days but when I put the bits together it all kind of fell into place.

Cheers,

Alistair
